Yes, there is custom characters, which means you can add your own sprites, voice clips, and change abilities and values the character have. I don't have any official guides how to do it right now unfortunately, but I can talk about it here.
How to make a custom character:
On the character select screen, there is a button called "Copy Characters", clicking that takes you to a new menu, where you select a character you want to copy. If you have no custom characters right now, you will only see Sticky and Catlyn. Choose one, then click "Copy Character", the game will load for a moment, until it says "Copied".
Go back, then click "Open Character Folder", and the folder for all of your custom characters will open. If it doesn't open the folder automatically, then follow the instructions displayed in the game, it should tell you how to open the Local Appdata folder and find the custom characters.
The character you have copied should be there, and you can access data, sound and sprites folders, and look trough how the character was made. Try changing a sprite, be mindful to use the exact same filename when replacing a sprite. If the origin point for your sprites are wrong, go to "data" folder and open sprite_origin_point.ini to change values around, I recommend that you take out Sticky's or Catlyn's sprites out of the sprite folder, and then remove the sprite_origin_point.ini and the game will generate new origin points for your custom sprites, putting the origin point in the center of the sprites.
I could get into more detail here, but probably better if we make an official guide for how this works. We're a very small community, so if there is more questions, we have a small discord server where we usually talk and hangout. Here is link: https://discord.com/invite/fGCy36x
Because this is a very small game it has a very small community, we have a gamebanana page where custom characters would be uploaded, but the only one there is a work in progress, can't download it yet. Would love to have more custom characters being made for the game. The custom levels that are there on gamebanana are outdated, only tested on old versions of Sticky Paws. Would love to get the word out more about this game and how much you can mod this game, get more people involved :)
Here is gamebanana page anyway: https://gamebanana.com/games/7722
Thank you so much for showing interest, I appreciate it a lot!
