I did as instructed and deleted that file path. Unfortunately it gave the same problem again.
It also says underneath the error heading "Use -d3ddebug to enable the D3D debug device. Use -gpucrashdebugging to track current GPU state" but I don't know run those commands.
It's unfortunate really. I so enjoyed Everspace and the Everspace 2 prototype. Despite not having any issues with either game and waiting what felt like an eternity for Everspace 2 to be released, I just can't seem to get past the data collection screen. After spending an hour troubleshooting, doing research and analysis, and performing every mundane troubleshooting step, I just have to let go for now in the hopes that maybe something will happen down the road.
Thank you guys anyways for your help! Best of luck and enjoy the adventure :D
Hey man thanks for trying to help me I really do appreciate this. I agree with what you say, but I cannot seem to figure out how to get it from fullscreen to a borderless start without actually being in the game. I cannot modify the settings outside of it. Here's what it says when I run the argument line -d3ddebug

I'll make another post when I try the other one and see what it says.
I tried to see if maybe I could download a package for UE4 and after digging through the files I did find a distrib package executable which I ran by itself and it did install some software but alas, I just continue to get the same error.
It's whatever at this point, I gave it some good effort, I just hope I am the only one encountering this. If not maybe this will shed some light.
Thanks for all the help anyways :) it's nice to see some people go out of their way to try and help.
This is exactly what I was trying to do for so long. The research explains this is what needs to happen and so yes, this is how you circumvent this problem.
To those who are unaware, if you are experiencing this issue, here's what you do:
1.) Go to your steam game library.
2.) Go to Everspace 2.
3.) On the far right near the top there is a cogwheel icon, click that and then from the drop-down menu select properties.
4.) At the bottom of the menu that appears, there is a text box which allows you to input a command line argument. Type exactly what is inside the quotations "-d3d11"
That's it. You can exit the box and then run the game as normal.
Special thanks to those who took the time to help me with this. I am very thankful and honestly quite impressed by the community. You guys are awesome. Cheers and happy space hunting/flying/shooting/killing/looting/exploring/dying/upgrading/crashing/dying/levelingup/dying :D
