Report a translation problem
If that's not an issue, hopefully a DEV can help you.
Sounds frustrating
I will dig through the Bug-Forum if i find something similiar. The Devs will most likely see your Report on Monday.
If even a Steam-backup fails, its maybe not a Game-issue, but something steam-related.
Found 2 Threads with save-file related Problems.
They are the opposite problem, but maybe the basic issue is similiar?

If these dont help at all, you could send a copy of your existing save files to the Devs directly... maybe it is a bug with your game afterall. Here is a link to a Dev-Comment, where to look for the required save-files.

Thanks for great advice and links, much appreciated, Steam Cloud? there's a thought, could well be culprit as my recent incident, now I think of it, was the day after I took a manual local backup set? Will switch Steam Cloud off for now and run without it, I have a NAS and can keep manuals for now anyway.
In meantime for Dev info Mon,
Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045. Stardard Intel i5 Gen 11, 32GB RAM, M.2 for O/S, SSDs for other stuff, NVidia GForce 1660.
We use Comodo Internet Security Pro, but always manually add Steam and each game as allowed apps when installed; not always necessary, but recommended by communities who use it.
Have Steam installed, build 1687386907, default location, although game library default set to separate steam games dedicated SSD.
Everspace 2 bought and installed via Steam, current game version v1.0.34617.
Playing it on DX12
Using a PowerA Xbox Series X/S FUSION Pro 3 Wired Controller - no issues.
Love to say issues could have occurred due to recent home network overhaul to all-in Ubiquiti Unifi but had two issues before overhaul and last one after; otherwise apart from that I've made no major system changes since game initial install and run.
Sorry to hear that your game saves appear to not have been saving. I'll see if the techs at the team know of any reason this could happen, however I think this could be a very unique situation as we've not had reports of save games not actually saving, either manually or to the cloud.
Appreciate the information.
Thanks for reply and suggestions. Can tell you on weekend was concerned it may have been that I had two accounts on same PC with share in place to play some other games bought on the older account now and again.
Decided then to uninstall steam, clear all caches and saves, re-install Steam plus ES2 and was prepared to take the hit and start from scratch; to my surprise when launched game all had returned up to SVE22 ?? so played as normal last night, then last manual save SVE25.
Just come to launch it now, shows I have update 1.0.34617 installed, but all I've got now at the start screen is 'New Game', 'Settings', 'Credits, and 'Quit' :(.... In my best Harry Potter 'Moaning Mertle' voice "I'm Distraught! Anything I can do?
Strange. The Game even recognizes Demo save file and E A save files....
Well, i guess Steam Cloud save is active, so there should be still 2 Sets of save files, locally on your PC and the Cloud save files.
You could try to start a new game until you can manually save. Then close the Game and restart it. Now the Continue Button and the load Game Button SHOULD be active.
Hopefully all save games in the standard save file location will be listed.
Hey Bobdog,
Could you please confirm that your game save folder is the following;
%localappdata%\ES2\Saved\SaveGames
In that folder you should see your game saves. If not, then I suspect something is blocking those files or for the files to be written to that folder.
Steam Cloud should reload those saves that you previously uploaded to it when you connected, which leads me to think something is blocking/deleting those files inadvertently.
Thank you for hangin in there with me and helping with advice, finally sussed the blasted thing, had been staring me in the chops plain as day all along; in my defence though, I am a qualified IT 'giffer' at 62 :)
After taking a couple a days away from it, I came back to it and spotted a green line, barely visible mind on a 144Hz monitor, around the windowed ES2 game application. doh! a classic Comodo sign that it's running the application 'sandboxed' and I should have know cos it did the same to me with a productivity app some 10+ years ago.
There's a bit to do in Comodo settings however to sort it, so if anyone else experiences the same in future don't hesitate to have them look me up or if you ever need screenshots for a support article shout me.
Anyway started a fresh, got the med bay up and running and soon off to find the beanies; \AppData\Local\ES2\Saved\SaveGames folder now filling up with saves.
Never let an inanimate object beat you, I say :)
Bobdog
Im glad you could negotiate with your Guardian Comodo Dragon, so you can finally enjoy the Game :D
Glad to hear it's sorted.
Pesky A/V software.
