So I went back again, this time loading an autosave from when I docked at Fallon Pango, only sold what I had to sell, and then undocked.
Then I tried modifying my autocannon, and it crashed again, now 4th time in two days, 3rd in total with error report sent to Rockfish.
In short, all 4 crashes for me are somehow related to vendors and/or modifying.
Wait, what? Then who the hell did I send my error reports to?
Your crash is different than the one this thread is about so I would suggest starting your own thread for information specific to your case. The crash we are trying to solve here has no error message.
My apologies.
For some reason, I initially read it as a general thread for random crashes, but I see that there's a significant difference between your crash variant and mine. Good luck in your crash-solving endeavors, pilot!
I checked the logs as directed before, no crash log. No crashes folder. I have no config.ini, unless the dev means delete the entire config/WindowsNoEditor folder.
Running Win10, Ryzen 7 1700, GTX1080sc, 32gb ram, running from a ssd
Will keep that in mind, thank you for the response!
Things worth noting:
- Version 0.8 uses a different, newer Unreal Engine version, so a lot has changed under the hood and it may just be that it's not related to a version conflict, just that this new Unreal Engine version is a problem on your system
- A word of warning: If you are testing save games that were created with version 0.7 in a 0.8 game everything should be fine. However, when loading a 0.8 save in a 0.7 game things are completely unreliable/unpredictable and weird stuff or even crashes are to be expected
I do not.
Hopefully there is a small number of possible ways the game can close without an error log and that can help you pinpoint what it could be. Maybe somewhere deep in the code there's an exit being called. If you're not able to recreate this in house and there's any way I can help trace what's happening let me know. It only takes 20 minutes so it's easy to reproduce here.
The saves on steam and gamepass are separate and I haven't tried moving them over.
- Unsintall "Gamepass Everspace 2" (as much as you can)
- Uninstall Steam Version
- Delete the content of the folder C:\Users\{YOUR_USERNAME}\AppData\Local\ES2\Saved\Config (You will lose your changed keybindings)
- Reinstall the Steam version only
- See if it crashes for you like before
If the game is still crashing, try the following (to rule out "external" communication - I don't believe that this is the problem, though)
- Disable Steam Cloud Syncs
- In the Everspace 2's gameplay settings, turn off "Send anonymous user data"
If the game is still crashing, try the following (to rule out a software conflict, especially with software that is altering audio and video there are a few known issues with Unreal Engine):
- Try to terminate any software that might be running in the background, especially stuff like NVidia Geforce Experience et al
If the game still crashes, maybe you could try to go back to an older graphics card driver
steam overlay and windows game bar already disabled
uninstall on game pass
uninstall on steam
delete appdata es2 directory
reinstall on steam
close all running programs (dropbox, plex, xbox, battle.net, chrome)
geforce experience disable gamestream, in game overlay
disable steam cloud in everspace steam settings
started game, save games were there (from the reinstall I assume)
closed game, deleted ES2 folder again
now there are no save games (no 'continue' button)
set up keybinds and other in game settings
started new game 2:20 pm
crashed 2:46 pm (looking for second broken antenna)
FORGOT to disable sending user data
did not downgrade graphics driver
I will give it another shot later with the user setting and an older graphics driver.
