Get rid of Rarity Level Gate
So I recently found out why I haven't been getting anything more than common and uncommon drops and it is there is a rarity gate every 10 levels. This is a horrible idea for a game with loot drops.

Allow all rarities to drop with higher chance from bosses and elites just like any other ARPG and then the game would be more exciting to play. Maybe make it every 10 levels gives bonuses to the chance of higher rarities to drop

I don't know it seems true. I'm level 8 and have yet to see anything other than common and uncommon. If you got a rare below level 10 I would love some evidence.

I think OP is correct, because I didn't see any blues until around level 10 as well. There was also zero blue purchase options in shops including ships in blue until level 10. At least that was my first experience with the game. Rarity is locked behind a level gate, which means that you would never receive any meaningful loot beyond what the game devs want you to. You can also see this with the rare tickets for harder enemies, the blue ones only drop after you hit 10th level. Surprise, we looked behind the curtain and found it lacking.

It's an interesting choice, but once you realize this is the case, it makes all loot drops trash. Once you have what you need you sell everything else off, and when you level you simply make new gear of that level to replace the old.

It's a bland experience with no chance involved. It makes the loot experience transnational, and emotionless experience. You're either converting loot into money or parts, either way once you've got a solid build down you rarely sway from that build, because there is no better loot to change you into something else.

I think that is what the devs missed out on, unique builds that come out of the game due to rare loot drops and players explore that new weapon or style based on the new loot. The current system kills exploration of different weapons, and gear.

more bad news:
a tier 3 ship can only equip 1 legendary item.
tier 4 can only equip 2.
so have fun with that.

It's like they took all the fun out of an ARPG. Though I can understand ship tier only allowing certain number of legendaries over level gate on rarities. Still they should just allow all that normal ARPGs would.

And you can't get a superior before level 20 or a legendary before level 30? Not buying it. I know for a fact you can get a legendary around level 15 as a mission reward. Just because you don't typically get a rare before level 10 doesn't mean there's an actual gate to prevent it from happening. I'm pretty sure that in Early Access I did have some rares prior to level 10 but that was Early Access and things might have changed. I only started 1 game since release 1.0 and I no I didn't get a rare before level 10 because I'm certain that a rare drop before level 10 is in fact pretty rare, but again that's not proof of there actually being a gate for it nor any other gates.

You are just proving it. You said "as a mission reward". That doesn't count as a drop bud.

Challenge accepted. Firing up Steam now with a new game to see if I can get a blue before level 10.

Update: Challenge confirmed. I got my first Rare drop at level 9 from a level 13 mob. It dropped a level 13 rare mine launcher. Pretty sure that the drop rate for rares under mob level say 10 or 11 is pretty rare which is why most people don't see them before level 10 or so. I had to find a level 13 mob to get a rare to drop, but there is no level 10 gate.

Besides that I found a TON of level 11 uncommon gear at level 9 which could very well be better than any level 9 rare gear so I don't even know why it matters. Even if you didn't find a rare below level 10, you would still be able to find level 11 uncommon gear that you could then remove the level restriction that could very well be better. I won't even be able to use this level 13 rare until I hit level 11 so there's no point to a gate even if there was one which there isn't.

I had a Superior at level 13 in a High Risk area, it was a level higher so I had to wait to use it. I also had another a level later but disassembled it since it was Mines and I don't use them. I am also pretty sure I had a 1 or 2 blues at level 8-9, also from HRA.

Hmm guess I'm super unlucky then. Bare minimum drop rates need adjusted.
