Panini projection option for less distortion at high FOV?
https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.26/en-US/RenderingAndGraphics/PostProcessEffects/PaniniProjection/

As far I understand ES2 uses UE4, so this should be available.

EDIT: yep, this already works if I edit configs manually. If anyone interested, add this to \AppData\Local\ES2\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.Ini

[SystemSettings]
r.Upscale.Panini.D=0.5
r.Upscale.Panini.S=0.05
r.ScreenPercentage=110

Tweak values if needed, these seem to work for me. Negative values of r.Upscale.Panini.S cut off corners of screen, can use this fact to make sure that these settings are actually applied.

EDIT2: This does cause misalignment between objects and their interface markers :(

Is there any way to counter the misaligned markers?

Nope, as far as I understand that would need to be implemented by devs.

Panini projection needs a special inverse projection matrix to align things like rays to world coordinates. This can be tricky.
