They definitely don't. They stay perfect triangles, the top of which rotates to face the enemy but when you've got 20 enemies around you its impossible to see. Maybe they're supposed to, like flak cannons are supposed to not hit imaginary walls.
Find some Neutral units and get in between them and then fly towards one or the other and when you are close rotate so you can see the triangle to either side of you and compare the triangles, they are different. It's subtle but it's there. It could stand to be a little more clear I'll give you that, but after playing for awhile I can tell the difference at a glance. If I can't tell the difference then all of the ships are relatively the same distance from me. Some are obviously a bit closer than others, but for all intents and purposes it doesn't matter.
I'll see if I can get a screenshot of it. Edit: Well guess what, screenshots don't capture the triangles.
Edit: I took out the question as whether playing on a console or PC as the console version hasn't released yet. Oops, brainfart.
I understand they get bigger, that isn't my problem. My problem is at a glance I can't always tell which way they point if its a fast mover. I run a scout a lot of the time and I'm moving fast too, if they just stretched them out some it would be 1000% easier. I don't understand why this is a problem to you, literally every game that has this kind of indicator does it one of two ways, a long arrow or a section of a circle radius that lights up (usually red). I love the game otherwise I would not even waste my time to make suggestions that they might not even read.
Well thanks then, you guys are doing a great job. I was impressed with how the game progressed from early access to now.
The indicators are placed in the direction you need to turn. If the enemy is to your right side, the indicator will be on the right side of your screen (3 o'clock). If the enemy is downwards of you, the indicator is at the lower edge of the screen (6 o'clock). If the enemy moves from the right behind you and to your left side, the indicator will jump from the right side to the left side (9 o'clock).
The position of the triangle already indicates the direction. What difference should a stretched triangle make?
