How to check if an area is 100% complete?

So I've seen the "You've covered 100%" of the locations sometimes..but I wasnt paying attention to this in the beginning. There's plenty of areas im sure i havent done 100% but the map doesnt seem to be showing the % completion.

How do i know this?

When you completed an Area without help, Gratulations :D Youre a good Explorer.
As Popchip already stated, later in the Game you will get a Companion into your Team, that will help you with Navigation. Very helpful in multiple Ways :)

You get a message that tells you that you got 100% but still guess it will make it hard to remember which are finsihed and which not. Sometimes it even is a side missions without a mission log.

And yes later you get one for help but... was usless for me (like most perks you can unlock) because to that time I already had 100% on all areas.

Not at all. Completing all Areas is an achievement for Explorers, with the appropiate Rewards. Would be useless if it could be done from the start.
