Besides, the thermo gun has really low dps. Even if it can curve pass the shield, it'll take too long. You're getting pelted from every direction by 6-7 enemies. Spending a whole 20 seconds shooting them is a good way to get overwhelmed
And I told you why "outmaneuvering" them or "flying closer" is a bad idea. Please learn to read
That alone tells me you don't play on high difficulty
You were give plenty Options. If you still cant defeat this Enemy, then its on you.
(and before you try the "you dont play on high difficulty" card - i played the Game on hard.... with a slow, heavy ship)
You've got a really crummy attitude to receive so many helpful suggestions and respond by lashing out. Perhaps you should turn down the difficulty and improve your skills so you can face bombers more confidently.
It's tru I dont play on hard, but i'm also thee person who takes a lvl 16 ship, to a lvl 20 High risk area, out shipped, an outgunned, an totally overwhelmed, some how i still manage to complete it
I don't know how difficult it is to understand, but when most of those methods involve using an ultimate, it's only proving my point how bad it is. Having to say, "use your most powerful ability just to deal with this one enemy isn't even a mini-boss" is not the big gotcha try to pretend it is.
And congrats. A pro gamer here to flex. Perhaps you're just skilled, or perhaps you just happen to have a build that makes them easy.
But try using a more squishy ship against an enemy that requires you to diving into the middle of the fight just to get close to be able circle around his shield. Tell me how that goes without using any ults or broken legendaries, or cheesing it by spamming it with all your secondaries.
Normal difficulty scaling is really not that bad. I played on normal too. 4 level difference is not that big of a difference. I'd say fighting overleveled enemies in normal is easier than fighting enemies of the same level in higher difficulty
Just as a comparison. Tanky enemies of the same level, I could melt with ~25% of my weapon's energy bar in Normal. Meanwhile, it would take me 75-100% of my energy with just holding down M1 on them on Very Hard. And I'm not missing either. I'm using a legendary beam weapon that shoots an enhanced beam dealing 20% more damage if I keep hitting an enemy for 3+ seconds without missing. Even while maintaining the enhanced beam, it takes forever to kill him. And this is on a high risk area that doesn't give enemies any sort of stat boosts.
It's also clear that you don't play on any high difficulty too because Flak guns are terrible against them. Slow firing low damage flak weapons don't generally do well against a damage sponge enemy, that is unless you're playing on a low difficulty where they don't have much health to begin with.
okay De_Faulty, back to the roots. What Ship do you fly usually, what difficulty level do you play on, what are your favorite Weapons, if you have one?
How far into the Game are you by now?
From what you wrote till now, you probably entered Khait recently, with a slow Ship, and get surprised by the sudden change in attack patterns by the hostiles. Iam close to your Problem?
Frontshield are only temporally and as the name suggest, it only deflects direct hits to the Frontside. You will at some point be able to learn more about that, when you find the Front Shield Generator.
EVERY Enemy in the Game, beyond the basic outlaw Ship, has a speciality. It would be boring if every Target is a sitting Duck. Adapt your strategy, find a weakness.
Each Weapon and Ship has its positive and negative Aspects, your Job is to find the Combination, that works for you personally.
You can wait until the Frontshield's time runs out, use an AoE Weapons, break the shield with concentrated Fire,.... if you use Primaries, secondaries, the Ult-Weapon of your Ship or something else.... it doesnt matter.
This isnt about "special Weapons" to beat this Enemy, its about YOUR ability to adapt to a new Threat.
Do you want advice or do you just want to rant?
If you want advice, then listen to the advice that was given to you, test it and pick what works best for you. Unless we dont know more about your individual fighting Style, we cant give you a more precise help, so you can avoid using your own Head ;)
Take Flak-Weapons for example. Personally, i didnt like them in the beginning. But i learned to love them, ESPECIALLY because theyre helpful against Redeemer Frontshields.
Frontshield only negates Damage that hits the shield directly and as already mentioned, they only cover a small part of the Ship. AoE damage from Flak hits more than just the Front Shield.
Be flexible, think outside the Box - you know the Drill. There isnt a single Enemy in this Game with a healthbar, that cant be destroyed.
It's time to rethink your strategy, and change your build and maybe grind for some different equipment.
Take a deep breath and re-read some of this thread again because there is some great advice on how to defeat them rather easily.
For instance, do you use the teleporter? Use Face off. Maneuver within 800m, use teleporter with face off and blast them with you weapon of choice from behind. Poof gone
EMP, destabilizer missle, pew pew BOOM
Corrosion works great for dealing with them, device, mine, missile, scorpion, deteriator, etc.
One other thing. Attributes are everything in this game. For example, re-roll your sensor for %20 more damage on the gun you're using and you can feel the difference. Or if you favor secondary weapons and are feeling like some more advanced, involved tactics and builds try re-rolling your sensor for %20 extra damage for missile launcher, and then re-roll your cargo bay for %20 extra damage for secondary weapons when Missile Defense System is active.
On your primary weapons attributes that bypass shields and armor work great. Also if you can get area damage or bounce attributes, these can get around those shield too.
Then there is the possibility that its time to buy a better ship. I bought a II+ Striker at level 16ish but by level 20 or so I decided to do the grind grind grind for a IV Striker. This made the game to easy on normal so I ramped it up to Nightmare level to finish the game.
Once I finished the game I just played the rifts. The Radiant Legendary Terminal Velocity made it easy to out maneuver everything even in Lunacy 2000. I don't even use the teleporter any more.
Hopefully you'll work it out and try new thing. The main storyline was kinda meh for me but having 9 ships that all crush Lunacy 2000 feels pretty rewarding.
Lots of good advice on how to counter specific enemies which is intentional for the game as we don't want every enemy to feel the same and have the exact same tactics which makes for unfun & sterile gameplay.
Personally I hate the teleporter drones, but I know I have to counter them either with flying, EMP, accurate shots or other means to survive.
Adaption is a path to success, rather than just hold LMB, is something we intentional design into the game, but holding LMB is still a fun & valid tactic for sure in the right circumstance. Even throwing in a volley of Rockets on RMB is satisfying too.
