not sure i want to platinum this.
100% ALL systems and Platinum in all races? I've beaten the game and done everything else, i have a filled hangar, legendary and starforged 30 gear. 91 hours on the 1st playthrough.

point is, besides just the achievement itself, it has no rewarding merits. Ball breaking, hand twitching races, with no need for credits (i own it all) or XP (i've been level capped since before Drake)

Scores of puzzles, often frustrating hide and go seek the gadget, followed by extremely tedious but simple lens puzzles. All for gear I'm going to scrap/vendor and sometimes some ship modules.

Full Completionist Achievements that need 100% of a collectable/grind mission etc.. Is not fun
Hogwarts did it right, require only 66% of the tasks/collectables to get the achievement, don't just bloat on busy work

I feel this.

I don't even want to platinum it.

I just want to complete some basic objectives, like, say, a place in Drake where I need to find two secret stashes.

However by this point I'm just so tired of zooming around trying and hoping to see an icon pop up letting me know where puzzle portions even ARE...

The "find a needle in a haystack" non-puzzles make this a painfully unfun game to 100% before you even get to the races. That mechanic is something that shouldn't even be in a game like this, it's not merely unfun, it's agressively anti-fun, you need to do something enjoyable after races to make up for the void such a ♥♥♥♥ experience leaves behind.

Why not just play the game, enjoy it and then move onto something else when you feel you're done with it? Don't even bother with pointless fluff like achievements, they serve no purpose once you are over 5-6 years old.

same here.
i really like this game and did most of the stuff, but the amount of puzzles and hidden stuff is just too much and races are just horrible because the restart takes so long.
i maybe would go for races if you could just reset instantly.

You can reset the races instantly at any point during the race or shortly after by holding C.

i know, but then you just get back at the gate and you keep some movement, so most of the time you just shoot off to the sides, have to fly back, start again, wait for the countdown, etc.

just a quick reset to the start would be nice, without throwing you out of the race.
for platinum you have to restart for every tiny mistake, while flying full speed. thats a bit tedious with the current way, at least for me.

The races are super trivial, just get the scout and they're free. Getting 100% of all secrets though is jsut too much work lmao

You can manage this in so many ways if you find or craft the right equipment. Get a light ship for the highest Handling. You can craft Cargo Units that both have extra Handling and Speed. Handling allows you to bank better in flight (with Inertia on), while speed applies both to regular, boost and cruise speed.
Get a booster that has high boost speed and extra passive speed, not energy gain. Higher boost speed allows for quicker reacting banking directions.
You can even use Teleport or Fusion Hook in various areas. Energized Boost is also viable, as you can cancel it's duration whenever needed.

Than just don't do it. Noone forces you to do do 100% for some worthless achievment. It's just up to you.

Although I haven't played Hogwarts yet, then what you mention is definitely the minority. Of all the games I've played, nearly all of them tends to have an achievement for finding ALL logs, secrets, puzzles or whatever. Weirdly enough Hogwarts have an achievement that states "Complete all collections". Is that not 100%?

Other then sidemissions, there are collectable pages throughout the game, you need 50 for the hogwarts school grounds, there are 77 in hogwart school grounds alone. There's more then whats needed, which takes a huge stress associated with completionism off your back. you can get all of them but only MOST of them are needed, because it's a HUGE environment to explore and looking under every bush is waste of time and frustrating. NO ONE complains about not needing all 77, infact it's the first game I've played that's not required all of the collectables, just most and it was noticeably refreshing. I noted it, my cousin noted, youtube reviewers later on noted how nice it was.

Honestly, it was refreshing and made the game more enjoyable.

Going to every planet could be a better achievement. hunting down every fracking, rune, battery, orb dispenser, hidden breakable wall on the ass end of an asteroid etc... Find the needle in the haystack bs, is tedious, not fun. TEDIOUS, and the rewards are middling to pointless. Reward a legendary for every completed system as incentive?

I did it just yesterday and, honestly, some locations were a real pain (Athor 1 and Perun 4, I'm looking at you...)
But I managed to do that with everspace fandom altough some description were really very very vague (who wrote them anyway?) :/
About races, buy a striker and you should have no problem (I even managed to get platinum in 2 of those with a sentinel).

So don't.
You do not have to do everything in a game, or most things. If you don't have fun anymore uninstall and move on.

I am never going to get plat in all the races it will not happen. I did them all the silver or gold and called it done never going back. Now if the races were a group fighting for a win and not a time trial that would be cool and I would dive into that grind.
Jumpem Apr 22, 2023 @ 7:18am
Are the main frame components important enough to have to bother with all of the puzzles?

Or do they end up not mattering all that much with superior equipment?
