As far as difficulty goes, my take is that this game is sort of all over the place. If you can be bothered to read back on some of threads here or in the suggestions sub-forum you'll likely get a similar impression.
Some feel the leveling and xp rewards are a bit too low and slow, others feel it's a breeze to get through most of the content.
A first meeting with various enemies can feel particularly nasty, such as Redeemers who in general seem way better at maneuvering than Outlaws. Or take the new Teleporter Drone, man, that thing will stay on you like freegin' herpes!
I would suggest a single playthrough where you just get to know the game and never mind the fact if you die or whatever.
There are a few small things you can do, if you like to do your own roleplaying/house rules such as; not using legendaries at all; or not using any module that has the attribute 'Cannot be damaged' etc...
Thank you for the informative response! :)
I'll take your advice and start a playthrough where I'll just load if I die.
After a full playthrough if the game has decent replayability I can do a challenge run ^^
