Cheat engine.

You also have the option of selling your current ship when buying a new one (you have to go to the ship you want to buy then press F for the different options.

The starting ship should be around 12k.

Doing high risk areas unlocked by an item (not sure how its called something like Ceto location info?). There you'll find lots of enemies and a boss which usually drop decent loot you can then sell.

You can grab missions in Nephthys Plains at the station's "job board". They pay out some money and most of them also grant a nice bonus from the enemy loot. :)

Are those randomly generated missions or are those having a limit? Just being curious here.

randomly generated though you can only have 5? at a time

you may have to travel some before they respawn but they will (there are more job boards in the union system so when one dried up I just went to another until the first refreshed)

you also can do the dynamically generated locations you see while traveling for random credit drops.

Sounds very, very good. Just picked this up this evening and didn't have too much time, so I thought I just ask. So these locations that pop up are also generated? This'll grant some endless fun farming stuff. Just what I like :)

Yes don't expect the same kind of "this will take 15 minutes to explore" location as the set map locations basically those sectors are for a random fight with a random set of enemies. And be read to jump right out if it drops you in the middle of 6 enemies...which it might do.

Eventually I expect them to become something better but yes right now they are just endless content.

If you can survive those enemies. As soon as I entered the crystal mine I had to leave bc I was very close to exploding. I have 1000-1500 credits most of the time, the one time I saw myself with 5000 credits I had to buy something from the trader, so no way I can afford to buy a decent armor or weapons.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the developers are Russians. On ALL Russian games you're given one cent per hour and then expect you to endlessly farm to get 50,000 credits. HTA was exactly the same, the only difference was that I was able to mod it and make it better. Everspace 2 can't be modded, so no point for me to continue playing it or even buying it! Yes, I'm always playing the game "free" and if I like it, then I buy it. Well, I don't like this game, so I'm not buying it. Hopefully that will tell something the braindead developers.

The easiest way to make Money is sell your loot and when you unlock the Next system look at the Trade deals
... Mining Tools are high demand in ceto And cheep ish in Union....
I ATM after 128ish hours iam 1/3 of the way to the T2 ship just by killing Selling And Trading...
Yes fat loot from high value spots but they can be tricky

Wait. I traded my ship and got gunship by paying 1200 credits extra. Gunship is not as fast but I like it! Wow.

meanwhile im 30 hours in with 5 of those pre 1.0 and im in a t3 interceptor, trade goods might be ok for a little extra income but running jobs is the best way to make money so far

also investigate unknown signals and distress signals, distress is normally very easy money and you get a lot of them going between destinations

Once you progress into 2nd system you can trade with good profits, but I did that to get 2nd tier ship, for the first tier just play the game, do jobs side missions, unlock chests and sell rewards that you don't use. The more you fight the more money you'll generate especially in high risk areas. You make crap tone of money just playing the game. I did no trading later and was able to afford tier 2+, 3 not long after they became available.
It is how they designed the game first time you see any upgrade you're unlikely to be able to afford it. It's a carrot on a stick that pushes you to get more money :)
