That’ll have the game run in directx11 instead of 12.
I think the warning window should be worded differently. :) Like....
If you're running the Steam version then you can use it as a command line argument, but there is an option upon starting the game to choose the DX version you wish to use.
If you're still on WIndows 7/8.1, you'll want to try:
-Right click game's shortcut in Steam
-Choose PROPERTIES from menu
-Under the GENERAL section
-Type in the text box under LAUNCH OPTIONS
-DX11
Then just close the PROPERTIES menu (click 'X' bot in upper right corner of Properties menu screen)
Again, this is wholly "unofficially supported," and I haven't played Everquest 2 in perhaps years at this point. I assume this workaround still works, but am not sure.
Teleworking requirements forced me kicking and screaming to Windows 10 last year, but my aging Asus gaming PC is not considered Windows 11-upgradeable equipment (according to some Microsoft system checker I tried), so I may get into similar situations when Windows 10 is put out to pasture (security updates stop sometime in 2024, I think I read).
it now says:Unable to launch with RHI 'DirectX 11' since the project is not configured to support it
