But yes, the demo will give you a good idea of whether you'll like it or not.
Also a hour Dev stream every single Friday.
This one is from last Friday.

Hard to find one showing exactly what I'm looking for. Does the free demo involve traveling between locations by any chance, so I could just see it for myself?
Get the Demo, jump right into the Game and let yourself be surprised :)
thats what a Demo is for... a quick look into a Game.
Below is an example at 26:20 of a recent dev stream if you don't want to download the game just to see that. You'll see him engage the jump drive to leave the current location and a blank screen with white diamonds at the bottom shows for just a second and then a couple of navigation points pop up as he's in SupraLite travel mode. He chooses one of the nav points and then hits the button to enable auto pilot and the ship navigates to that new location. When he reaches the new location there's another brief blank loading screen with white diamonds at the bottom again for a few seconds and then then he's at the new location. So there's a very short loading screen going into Supralite travel from a location and then coming out of it again into a new location.
The player doesn't actually do any of the piloting though you simply engage Supralite travel, pick the new location and then engage the auto-pilot and wait till you get to the new location. That's traveling from 1 location to another, simple and straight forward. If immersion is what you are looking for, this is probably not where you are going to find it. It's not that type of game. It's a looter/shooter. Focus is on the combat and exploration is within each location, not getting from 1 location to the next. There are a number of new locations that can be discovered as you play and you can navigate to them and random new locations can also pop up while in Supralite travel, but again getting from 1 location to another is not really a big part of the game, it's what happens within a location that's important.

Thanks for the information! And I'm guessing that, while in outer space (between locations), you can't manually fly to any of the locations either? Also, can you think of any games that do this seamlessly (still with a cockpit view) but aren't too complicated to learn?
Honestly, everything else about this game looks amazing, I'll probably try the demo either way.
You should. The game is terrific.
