I've been doing this on nightmare dificulty, and once I died because I was in a red HRA with enemies dropping mines on kill. XD
Forgot about that and went in for the brawl. IT WAS FUN!
I run vanguard, haven't tried anything else since reaching endgame. Saving up for another tier IV ship atm.
Vanguard has insane crit chance (expertise buffs this to 250%+) when up close behind an enemy. You really have to stay up close so it can get pretty hectic. But it's well worth the effort with Symphony of Destruction, especially when you get bigger enemies to explode.
I use the executioner and pulse/blaster maxed for energy dps. Take down shields, get in close on a big ship and blast their thrusters with the executioner. Big explosions follow!
Needless to say Nexus heart is likely what keeps me alive. That with Pango's armour is pretty powerful, just use the Fusion hook to get around or pull enemies towards you. Last night I started using BOB instead of Pango's and I will always have him equipped from now on😁 He is a great distraction and actually pretty powerful. I've only tested him at 350 lunacy so far so not sure how long he survives later on.
I use support devices:
Teleport with scury
Boost with damage mod
Nano transmitter for emergencies
Fusion hook with kunai - great for pulling an enemy out of the pack to munch on if you're low on health
Secondaries are usually emp and distabilizer with the auto fire attribute.
The ULT really helps in a pinch too, slowing everyone else gives you time to get behind them and clear out a bunch at once.
A really fun build if you're comfortable being in the thick of it. Took a little bit for me to get used to since I went from sniping with the scout through the whole game to vanguard around lvl 26 for the last mission or so just to try something different.
