The Big Wierd thing about this game..
Ya'll have seen those 10 mile long warship remains in Navia Orbit and in Ceto correct? They seem to be pretty common in the lore but the biggest "Cap" ships you see in-game are those tiny G&B Freighters or the Odd Destroyers/Carriers which dont seem much bigger than your ship.

I mean how awesome would it be to see these city sized massive starships in-game you can interact with. I really find that disconnect in the game...

Those were core-system warships... You're in the DMZ, so it makes sense that large warships aren't permitted.

probably the most made up defense to a fictional lore i've ever heard

Those are ships designed for war. The war ended years ago, so it wouldn't make sense to find them anywhere else except for military bases which would be found deeper within each faction's respective territories.

You'd especially not want to have anything that large roaming around in Okkar space. They're already still on edge, with their extremists literally ready to consider any human attack on an Okkar force as an act of war.

The size of the Freighters dont match the size of teh warships. Im not saying it has to match 1:1 but right now the largest cap ship freighter looks like a marble in front of the warship derelicts. Still seems off

Right because anything bigger would be seen as a threat to the current fragile peace in the area.

The current largest force allowed is basically a swat truck. Able to handle tougher jobs than your average mall cop, but not enough to threaten the surrounding area.

Capital ships would be like an entire tank battalion. In an instant, it could open fire and wipe out several ships, or kill thousands in a civilian settlement. Not the type of force you'd just have roaming freely in an area specifically designated to not allow military force.

Thats fine.. Im literally comparing the SCALE of these ships. They dont match up - think of a Navy Aircraft Carrier and LNG Tanker. They're somewhat comparable even though Aircraft Carrier is more bigger. In the game's standard - the freighter is like a Mercedes truck. Its not to scale in comparison. Neither are the destroyers that you see in High Risk areas or even in maps.

Probably more profitable for corporations like G&B to run freight with smaller ships in the DMZ, which is uh, not exactly safe. Big freighters would be a juicier target for all the ne'er-do-wells in the cluster.

Basically a difference between having a shipment on one massive freighter that's more expensive and slower, or splitting that shipment up between, say, six different smaller freighters. You can see in the game how much G&B is willing to spend on escorts; it isn't much.

As for warships, that's already been covered by other posters.

That being said, could be fun to have a DLC with some bigger ships to interact with (either to protect, or enemies to fight).

Not sure I agree about the sense of scale being out of proportion - I bet those huge ships still exist in the main fleets. The Colonial Cruiser and Okkar Cruiser seem like they'd be about the right size to have a squadron or so of them be hosted on one of those huge shipwrecks.

I do think it would make sense for us to see larger freighters in the game. Like Tareem runs a small operation and his freighter is already a lot larger than any of the freighters used by G&B, and of course Marie's ship is probably considered fairly small as well for real transport.

It would be really fun if we had to participate in an attack against one of these huge ships, though, especially if it were some kind of alternative to the current Rift system.

In relation to your ship it would be the size of a single map/orb.
..but who knows whats to come in the future, not a bad idea to save the "best" for last.

Yeah, it is weird.
Especially considering that ES1 had Okkar Frigates as enemies on some later areas. With Jump Suppressors. So you had to destroy them.
And the final boss was one of those huge Warships. That was a trick fight, though. You couldn't fight that one fairly.

I fully expected something bigger, but all was shown on the EA.

The destroyers are pathetic. Finally giving a fair try to Vanguard, and unloading a Decimator on a Destroyer's ass causes it to die in seconds, The factual uck?

That is actually my biggest complaint with the game. The scale of ships and buildings is pretty weird. I put about 80 hours in and beat it, so I liked it pretty well.. But I do wish there had been some more interesting large fleet stuff.

I believe they are planning a deadnought for the expansion next year - that one will be very, very big.

good observation, I hadn't thought about it.
Looking online cruise ships, container ships and aircraft carriers are roughly similar in size.

Lore wise this is because the Okkar specifically forced the DMZ to have no large ships, as is noted in the side quest chain about the rogue military AI called "The Parasite". The humans were repurposing huge freighters to hold technological/biological weapons development labs and sneaking them into Okkar space. One AI they developed to disable and steal Okkar ships went rogue and destroyed it's own ship. You can see how huge that ship is during the mission.

That being said, I would love to fight huge mobile bases with destructible weapons and engines you could capture for big payouts by strategically crippling them instead of vaporizing the whole thing.

I remember thinking the same thing in Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw. The first game had you flying capital ships, starting with a modest corvette, and ending with towering dreadnaughts that could dwarf some space stations. Then in the sequel you're flying only fighter-class craft, and while larger NPC ships do make an occasional appearance, you never seen anything on a scale close to the original's dreadnaughts.
