System requirements = o.0
I'm not sure who would try pairing an RTX 2070 or 5700 XT with a 4th-gen i7 and DDR3, but WTF are you guys smoking, and where can I get some?

I actually ran a 2nd generation i7 (2600) with an RTX 2060 for the longest time, I just didn't have the budget to upgrade. CPU upgrades are expensive because it usually means changing motherboard/ram/cpu all at once, sometimes more.

I didn't actually upgrade because I couldn't play my games, lol, ran them fine, even games that asked for a better cpu than mine. I upgraded because I didn't have enough processing power to do sound engineering when I make music. I was also running 16 gb DDR3. I definitely got better performance in games when I upgraded though. I upgraded the cpu about a year ago, bit less, upgraded the gpu like, 3 weeks ago.

These system requirements make perfect sense, and very few games actually tax the CPU a lot. ;o ngl, I'm pretty sure my i7 2600 x rtx 2060 combo would've ran this just fine at 60 FPS with no hiccups at 1080p.

Edit: It's not that I paired the i7 with the 2060 originally, it's that I upgraded my gpu 3 times during the runtime of my i7 lol.

Edit2: Ran Resident Evil remakes with fairly high settings, ran really complex ship builds on Space Engineers, ran Elden Ring with fairly high settings, ran Alliance Raids with 24 other players on FFXIV, etc.... I really had 0 issues gaming on that rig. :P

I say I saw an improvement in my gaming performance, and I did, but it was rather disappointing. Everything else improved way more noticeably, like, using my operating system, browsing the internet, etc... Just to stress that CPU performance matters little for gaming.

I also have a friend who is still running a 4th gen I7 with a 3070TI right now, playing rather recent games at 1440p with no issues.

Look, kid. Simple pew-pews are one thing, but my old 4770 chokes anything faster than a 1650 Super in complex sandbox games (NMS, E:D, etc.) or RPGs. I've tried. Example: My buddy's 2060 was taking a nap while it waited, but thhe CPU was buried at 100% around medium-high settings in No Man's Sky (which is notoriously taxing on every system component.) You know--just to stress that I play more than shooters and use my machines for more than games--so I need a good CPU. ;)

The point is I wouldn't waste a 2070 on an old Haswell rig. It makes little sense, unless you're just trying to get by.
Surely that makes sense. You don't need a powerful processor for UE4. Maybe for others. This isn't No Man Sky.

Look babe, you have no idea how old I am, and how much experience I have with computers. I've ~100 hours on NMS... On my i7 2600 with my 2060. Was running it at 60 fps easily. Not my fault if you can't optimize your computer/tinker with your settings/run a garbage windows install rigged with malware crypto miners that slow you down. You wanna play "I know better" game ? I don't mind. ;p

About doing other thing on your computer, I specifically said I upgraded for content creation, I don't know why you're assuming I'm some 16 years old kid who only plays video games when my post tells you otherwise. I was trying to be nice and explain from the perspective of someone who has been there, you chose to be an ass.

I'm honestly unsure what this thread is about.

It's about an ass who thinks he knows better than both the people who made this game and the people who have run rigs like the system requirements mention in the past successfully. Probably an attempt to reinforce his lacking self-esteem or an attempt to get a dopamine rush to counter another issue in his life he can't do anything about.

My steam account on its own is probably older than his ass and he calls me kid. :D

I'm sure it's about recommend specs.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K@3.5GHz or Ryzen 5 1500X@3.5GHz.
RAM: 16 GB.
VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8GB)
DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 8192 MB.
PIXEL SHADER: 5.1.
VERTEX SHADER: 5.1.
OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
FREE DISK SPACE: 35 GB.

And he got a new CPU xD

I mean if it's about the combination of parts or the required specs being a little higher than what can actually run it, then honestly it's a useless endavor. I'm currently using an Intel I7-7700 and an RTX-3050. That's also an older CPU paired with a recent GPU. It works though and pretty well on top of that.

To be fair I don't need the newest and best tech. Up until recently I used the GTX-1050ti and was happy with it. If it didn't die on me, I would have used it for just a little while longer.

It's about "Who would pair a 10 years old processor with a 4 years old GPU, devs are smoking serious crack if they think people do that", people do that all the time tho lol...

Edit: Actually, there is only 4 years between the release of 4th gen i7 CPUs and the release of the rtx 2070. When you put it like that, it's not even a generation. >.>

It doesn't really matter if you pair older tech with newer tech. Worst case scenario you have some bottlenecks which can prevent a piece of tech not being able to fully function. But more often than not all parts will function as expected.

I agree, and is the point I was trying to explain, nicely, in my first post ^^''

I upgraded my CPU for other games (X4, 7 Days to Die). But I wouldn't do it for this one. Runs at 20% on my 5600g (5500 with graphic). I was using a Ryzen 5 2600 before and still using my Vega 56 from 2017-2018. Overclock an Intel Core 2 Duo and you can play this Game at 1080p paird with an 2070.
