Trying to be polite about it, it does not seem like a real 1.0. I think that there is a lot of space for constructive criticism around their gamepass release and general version control efforts as well.
I played some quests during the first EA version and then stopped so I could experience the final version. But based on this launch, I expect the coming expansion will also be launched with its own share of not quite actually fixed issues.
So for someone like me, who wants to play a fully functional, story complete version. It makes more sense to wait a year? or even two until that is out, so that I can play it once and experience everything without dropped cutscenes, placeholder audio etc.
Was this announced? Is there an up-to-date list of known bugs and/or confirmed compatibility? We were advised to use Proton during EA, and now I guess it's the only option for non-Windows users ... For those considering it, it would be good to know which bugs are known and will be fixed, and which are known and won't be fixed *before* investing time playing the game.
I remember a bug in ES1 that wiped my save. When I searched, I found that it was cross-platform, and *known* ... and that the solution was to email you for a replacement save. I suggested that, even if the bug was unfixable, you could post an official explanation and the 'emergency save' files ... You didn't.
You guys do a lot of things quite well - including, usually, communicating to the community - so, when you drop the ball on seemingly simple things, it's a little disappointing. :/
Lucky!
I would also suggest to open a Bug-Report there, if that isnt already done by you or someone else (wasnt home the last few days and dont know if anything major happened). Describe the Bug like you did here, when the issue occured and some infos about your system (important detail is where you buyed the Game - Steam GoG, Gamepass,....), because there are update-delays on different platforms.
But maybe some of you are using
"Win7DSFilterTweaker"
or
K-Lite Codec Pack which has the "Codec Tweaker Tool".
Both offer the "MS Codec Tweaks". You can disable several built-in decoders here and sometimes you want to do that, e.g if your custom codecs are not picked.
But Everspace 2 definitely needs the "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder", so unchecking both of these "Disable ... " boxes finally brought back the cutscene videos in Everspace 2. Give it a try!
