Tricks to finding things?
Some missions a white marker will briefly appear, guiding you in the direction of an objective. Cloaked chests will make a sound as you get closer.

Is there any other clues like these for some of the 'find' missions? I'm on one that wants me to find 6 hidden ore veins, and I've been all over the map and can't find it. Any tips?

orangish glow for breakable walls. if you see a wreck or collection of debris, there's usually something nearby. keep an eye out for mining related things-- beacons, lasers, platforms. minefields usually aren't randomly placed either, though some are. clouds of corrosion or radiation is usually near stuff

Assuming it's the map I think of you're looking for the symbol used to pin point destructible objects. Although aside from flying close enough to them don't think there's any way to spot them.

There are easy to see and 3 are very close together inside the hole of the bigger asteroid with the others nearby. Look for brown like bumps that have yellow cracks on them. You can see them from far away too and not all give you a marker that shows it is destructable.

Be on the look out for any visual clues. A strange glow. Flashing light. Smoke. A container floating out in space. Enemies circling an area. Mining rig or just large piece of debris or large asteroid. Anything that catches your eye should be investigated up close. Sometimes when you get close enough then things will show up on your HUD. It's very rare that there's no visual clues whatsoever.

Also, you might want to consider keeping two pairs of sensors. In the very early game there's not enough differentiation. But as you move further, you'll start to see some radars might have a long ship detection range and you should keep that for combat. And others might have better loot or resource detection range. What I sometimes do is go in and clear the enemies with my combat radar on then switch radar and start flying near any large objects or structures in cruise mode

Yes, that is the mission, and I found all but one; are they all in the same general area? I could of sworn I looked everywhere in the areas I found the others. I assumed the last would be further away.

yes, they are quite close to each other. One is a bit on the outer side of the massive opposite to where the most were hidden.

Generally most things are "hinted" by environment or very close. Like follow the cables, look for enlighted areas, always look for yellow destructable/scrap. Almost all mining spots are in the "cores" of cracked asteroids.

It's not badly done. Take time to explore, but usually not frustratingly random :) There also are scanners that can scan for resources better, or items better. I keep them in inventory and switch them when I need to.
