DX12 is for better hardware, DX11 for mid/low end hardware as far as I know.

Better temps in DX11 but better graphics(?) in DX12,

I'm downloading the demo at the moment,

DX12 works fine on my GTX 1060, but I switched to 11 because HDR is somewhat acceptable on that.

i run a 3090 and I use DX11 for the HDR. It looks freakin amazing.

I had a hard crash everytime bigger ships sploded in DX12, so I had to downgrade to DX11, didn't really see any difference when I did. I'm on midrange, less than a year old hardware.

I have a ♥♥♥♥♥ screen that don't support HDR, so can't comment on that. :D

dx12 on an RTX2080 - No issues.

Geforce settings.

I get pretty much identical performance on both with a 3080, but DX11 seems to run a little smoother. Also as others have noted, HDR is broken on DX12. Personally I'm not using it because I hate how it washes out the colors in the UI, but the game looks great.
