Can you spend 100s of hours in this or just a short game?
Seems like a game i would like to grind in and explore whilst not rushing anything. Is this game quite lengthy or just a short linear kinda experience?

If you are a completionist, yeah for sure. :steambored:

It's a somewhat lengthy, kinda linear, but also kinda open-world experience.

Don't know about playing hundreds of hours in just a single playthrough of it. There's 7 systems in the game if I understand correctly, and on average I'd say there's at least an hour or two's worth of content per system if you're doing a sort of minimalist/impatient speed-run, where you don't care about side content.

So we have (very roughly estimated) an hour of concentrated gameplay per system if you only focus on main story.

Do you like side-quests that aren't necessarily related to the main story/character? If yes, add at least an hour's worth of gameplay per system.

Do you like to modify and customize your ship and abilities? Then add another hour or so of gameplay per system.

And then there's the 'challenge arena' type features such as High Risk Areas and Ancient Rifts if you just want that 'arcade fix' for full-on action and fun, and not have to worry about warring factions, ancient tech, fallen elder gods and all story/fantasy/lore mumbo-jumbo....

I'm at around 18 hours and I haven't even fully explored the first two systems, I think there are supposed to be around 8 in total. I'm easily distracted by side content, and there is a lot of it so far.

Awesome thanks, i just bought it so i'm sure it will be fun enough.
Depends, if you are a normal person, you'll definitly spend a good 70h juggling between the main story and and side stuff to prepare, if you rush the story (assuming you are good enough to do so), it'll last 20h less at least, and if you want to 100% the game you are in for a ride.

I never rush anything, to the point where i have many hundreds of hours in Red Dead, Cyberpunk etc and never actually finished the games haha. I love the exploration and feeling that the game isnt about to end.

This one is a bit more story driven (It's a looter-shooter afterall) so it will likely end faster than those other titles, but it will provide a good experience and it's also easily replayable.

The campaign itself is designed to take around 30 hours to complete. There's a ton of side missions and additional content that can easily take you to 100 hours. Then there is an end-game with ancient rifts where you can acquire legendary gear that you could spend as much time as you wanted there. There's plenty of content already and there's already a planned DLC for later this year with additional content and a paid expansion in the works for next year. I don't think you have to worry too much about completing the game quickly unless you do nothing but the campaign.

They have said this is a 30-40 hour game but I've played over 25 hours and not even done with 2 of the 7 systems.

To be fair I've completed the game twice in early access (so I know how to do most stuff already and where to look for the secrets) and I finished the game in 23h with level 21, leaving out the Parasite and Gang Wars side quests. So I'll probably finish within 26h.
