Is there any ray tracing?

I was digging through old posts but they were so old it was "the devs are looking into it" from 2021 so i couldn't find the answer.

Buying the game either way, just curious.

No RT is being implemented.

For the environments & the pace of the action it wasn't deemed necessary to implement into the title.

Would be nice to at least have reflections, some ships are really shiny and it would look insanely good, missed opportunity honestly.

the problem is that the maps are 12km*12km*12km, the ray's and tracing would be mighty expensive from the sun too

We're using Screen Space Reflections, which cost way less performance, and we think they look really nice. In most situations, you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference unless objects are just right in front of you, which is rarely the case in an open-space scenario. /Michael

Lighting seems odd or is it my settings? Doesnt appear to come primarily from the closest Sun but from several invisible light sources.

Game is quite demanding already so yeah I guess it would not be very playable, and you wouldn't notice it that much outside of hangar and some slow moments where you can pay attention to your surroundings
