About those Timing Puzzles..
So am in late-game and I see the frequency of these puzzles seems to have increased to a point of significant annoyance. Whats making the whole experience worse is the rewards - Im getting uncommon items after spending 10 minute to figure out:-

"To Open this container you need to get an energy sphere thats behind a Shield that needs to be opened by two shield generators that are covered by another shield that needs to be unlocked by a protector sphere which has to be throw into a narrow pipe and it has to travel the length of the pipe at the end of which is that sphere socket : all with 5 seconds to spare"

At the end I got two uncommon items and one blue item - in the Drake System.

This is frankly getting ridiculous!!! The point of gameplay is to be FUN. And these are no longer fun after 400 times even with slight variations!!

Im getting to a point where i no longer desire the "100% Completion" and am ignoring exploring anything just trying to get to end game! I feel one out of two ways to end this mess:
- A late game Perk that greatly increases these timings (or removes them completely).
- A Mod to increase these timings (or removes them completely)

I've held Protector Spheres, I would have noticed right away if it was pitch black like that.

What Mission or location is it on? I'd like to check this one out for myself.

Yeah the rewards for some of the puzzles are ... not great for the time investment. Your loot should be automatically bumped up a rarity tier in my opinion, or a really high chance for prototype or starforged. I'd assume there's a modifier that does that already, but I think it could be tuned a bit better.

I'm not crazy about the 'Puzzle' aspect of the game, but I respect that some people enjoy it.
I usually enjoy exploration in games but often in this game it feels like a chore, maybe because I'm usually not exploring just to see what I can find, I am looking for a specific thing that is sometimes frustratingly hard to find.

Couple things:

-If you lower the difficulty you get more time to complete the timed puzzles.

-You can use Energized Boost device while holding a sphere.

-I'll do an Area Challenge if there is one, and look around for any easy stuff in an Area, but then I'll stop looking for things, at least until I get the Perk that shows me what I am missing.

-Once I have the Perk, I might go back to areas looking for Mainframe Components that I missed, but the moment I feel frustrated I just go to the wiki to look where they are. Some are still hard to find even with a guide. Aside from Mainframe Components and maybe Devices, it's not worth spending much time looking for hidden stashes, unless you enjoy it.

The "puzzles" (the ones with orbs) truly overstayed their welcome in the game.

Use the grappling hook device, makes these puzzles a breeze.

So why do you keep doing them? Either you are lieing and the stuff you get from them is actually a LOT better than you are saying which is why you keep doing them or you are just a masochist. My guess is it's the former, but if it's the latter feel free to stop.

I'm guessing it's the former because I know that half of my loot is from the sealed containers. If it weren't for those, I'd have had to kill twice as many mobs. I LOVE the sealed containers, because I don't have to kill anyone to get tons and tons of almost free loot.

My "change view" button is bound to `v` (can't remember if this is the default). Pushing spheres around is one of the few times I'll drop back out to 3rd person, makes it a lot easier to see (also when you're close to the socket but it's inside a broken ship or container, 3rd person view is much easier).

Well, I can understand why people don't find the puzzles to be their cup of tea, but remember that they really are truly optional. It's easy to fall victim to One Hundred Percentagitis, since our brains love that dopamine, but take it from someone who falls for that super hard in most games, it is possible to ruin your own enjoyment of a game with a relentless focus on 100% completion. Even if you love a certain activity, if you do it enough that it starts to feel like a job, it can lose its appeal.

Dude, change your view when holding a sphere.
VersataMeridian Apr 22, 2023 @ 7:43pm
if you notice caerfully that is third person. Its worse in first person so....
TheWarriorJar Apr 22, 2023 @ 8:55pm
The only location challenges that are fun are when you fight enemies, I only did the bare minimum in each sector to unlock fast forward in supralight

Not a fan of these Energy\Heat\Protector Sphere mini-puzzle things. Sure, its "optional" but man, severely un-fun after a while.
