Star Citizen
fun.
check me out at tsmspace.com.
do I think that manual rcs is hard??? welllllll not really no. I think real flight simulators are also hard, so I don't think it's harder. I DO think that the most commonly available controls are harder than controls can possibly be, again see my website.
I mean if the question is, is it worth playing manual thrust full newtonian when the future of space will have AI that can make for flight assist,, in that case what's the point of pretending that fighters have any place in the future at all?? Between orbital mechanics, the realities of fuel efficiency, and the future of missile technology, is it even imaginable that battles will be fought with humans occupying a fighter and then flying into the sort of close range they need to be to aim down what amounts to iron-sights and then shoot,,, lasers??? lasers don't work that way for the most part, it doesn't matter what the future holds, for the most part lasers will need to be focused for a much longer time than a space shooter makes available, and on exactly the same point. , bullets?? wow,, bullets,,, they are heavy. Sure it's the best option on the table, but exactly how many bullets can a ship carry? 10? 20? 1000? A missile doesn't need a pilot at all. it can shoot bullets if that's what it takes. Maybe jamming will get really advanced, bringing the fighter into the scheme,,, but then the AI won't be able to work at all either, because electronic jamming will "EMP" it computer into failure,, and you're back to square one,, where a pilot needs to manually control a big failure-safe electro-mechanical system not terribly different from being connected by levers to the thrust vector plates, because only a huge wires and big electronics will handle the EMI , and in that case,,, well yes I do expect proficiency at 6axis thrust will come into play.
I did. It was superb,, except I did kind of wish they stayed in solar system, and bypassed ancient aliens as a theme, but just the same,, I loved every of the brief and few moments of thrusters in action.
and combat at the same time,.
Everspace 2 is an arcade looter shooter with an option to turn off inertial dampeners during space flight, but it doesn't have a full newtonian flight model and it's not in the scope to ever have one.
Some great suggestions above for those looking for that kind of game.
It's based on a book novel, so, they stick with the source material.
But "The Expanse" is one of those sci-fi tv series that so much approaches more the sci than the fi, and is closest to our current space tech...
No lasers, but a lot of projectile weaponry and missiles, and they stick to ammo limits, fuel issues and gravity effects. I love it so much.
There are so many great scenes in each season. It's my fav sci-fi tv series.
I agree , but did not read the books before seeing the show (or after) , so didn't know they were going to go with ancient aliens... and was like,,, *meme* aliens.
