How To Paint The Ship...?

I have picked up 2 or 3 paint colours but cannot see where or how to use them. I thought it might have been those schemes,or whatever they are, but they don't do anything. So IS it possible to paint the ship, and if so, how please..?

Also, I now have this icon in the center of the screen, right at the top. It's basically a box with an arrow inside it, what's that about..?

Dock at a station --> click on the "ship" tab --> click on the ship customization field --> click on a custom style and press R --> click on paint job --> colorize the ship to your liking with your unlocked colours

Well I was trying to do it at the hideout, but I'll try again. As well as a station.

Yeah, i'll have to try a station too then I guess. I picked up a green ship paint in a mission, and I still only have the default red and white in the customization screen.

If that mission is from a mission in Union Bridge in the Ceto system, that's not a paint color for you, that's just a mission item and can't be used for customization. If you think you picked up a color elsewhere, make sure it's not a window tint or emmissive light color. I thought I was missing some colors, but it turns out they were both just window tints.
