Legendary Cap 2 Items
Dear Devs,

I have just received my third legendary item and I am disappointed. Theres a Cap of max 2 installed legendarys. Please remove this!! Thats a killer for long term fun, so farming doesn't make any Sense. Why should I waste my time and farm rifts if theres nothing to gain any more...

Hybarf Tics is accurate in his statement: If the player could just slap on every single Legendary in the game, the stats and abilities would be so super-powered that nothing would matter anymore and all our enemy design and balance (as well as the progression systems, crafting, collecting or managing basically any loot at all besides Legendary items) would simply go out the window. The game would literally become "hold fire and win," which we don't think is very fun or satisfying.

We could "fix" this by scaling back the powers the Legendary items provide, but we don't want to do that, because we want these items to truly feel Legendary. We encourage you to utilize them by enhancing your preferred playstyle, or to try a different direction that a Legendary provides opportunities with.

You can have 9 ships that's 18 items to farm. :steamhappy:
Consider yourself lucky it was supposed to be 1. Now you can put 1 x equipment & 1 x weapon. Putting legendary in every slots would make your ship too powerful and unbalance the game. It's not gonna happen.

Having all Items "RED" equipped is the same unbalance imho, farming gear is a longterm funfactor thats destroyed when you cant go full red or full legendary.

Wait, you can't go full red now? I last played it a little after the last big update and I do remember reds being a bit more rare (which is good), but I still remember going all red somewhere between levels 20 and 25...

There's no limit in equipping non-legendary items
Pappy Nov 16, 2022 @ 6:49am
What makes you think that once you have 2 legendary items you wouldn't want to get more of them and swap out legendaries? Even if you had all legendaries equipped it wouldn't change anything.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

How about Legendaries that have penalties as well as bonus? This would make players think again about stuffing all slots with them.
And how about legendary Catalysts? So we can slap a red weapon with some freaky fx?
Example:
- The Endless Elder - heavy armor plate - armor regenerates slowly + feeds on armor of enemies within 500m range (they take armor damage that is leeched to your ship). Handling -45, speed-25%
- Thor's Crystal node - turns beam weapons into chain lightning. Increased energy cost, reduced range, chains to several targets.

Yep, already in the game. One of the legendary weapons uses ultimate energy to fire so effectively preventing you from using your ultimate when that item is being used. I'm sure there will be more in the works.

There might already be plans for this or something close to it anyway. In the dev stream there was a legendary part shown, but Erik said to ignore it. Not sure exactly what that might be used for, but upgrading legendaries and/or perhaps legendary Catalysts I think is a safe bet. Not exactly sure it's what you had in mind, but it would certainly seem possible to get some special FX on non legendary weapons.

Me playing a Gunship in Everspace 2: Weeeee, just finished a red HRA, guns blazing! Oh, wait... what about the ULT? Damn, forgot to use it... and it was such a fine coil gun turret. Bugger!
Joke's aside, most of the times, I forget about the ULT. So, maybe that penalty is good for me? XD
The only time I don't forget about the ULT is when I fly a Bomber. Because Arc-9000 IS... MY... SH*T!

Yeah, I'm kinda the opposite, I can't stop using the ULT on my gunship, other ships I tend to forget about them. I'm not sure if it's just my imagination but I seem to think the ULT for the gunship charges faster than for other ships.

And if you haven't popped the Gunship's ULT on the Destroyer in an HRA and killed it in like 8 seconds, you haven't lived.

I totally support the vision Rockfish has for legendary equipment - I would rather have quality over quantity. Having legendary items be very powerful and be the centerpiece of certain ship builds adds much more replayability in the long run than simply collect them all and equip them all. All the non-legendary loot still has a purpose in the end-game. Kudos to really having meaningful legendary items as opposed to just another tier above superior (the normal +1 level equivalent).

However, I am really glad the cap was increased from 1 to 2 legendary items so there can be some interesting pairings. Now it is just a matter of making all the legendary items be exciting in their own way such that there would be a ship type or build that each one augments so no legendary item is underwhelming in all cases. I could see this starting off at 1 legendary and maybe finding ways to unlock more perks or challenges to make you feel like you earned the extra legendary slots (maybe capping at 3 overall?).

Legendary's
Haveing a Max of only 2 Legendary's attached at one time i find that as so dumb that i don't care to farm Legendary no matter how good they may be tell i can have all parts set to be a Legendary i will find no reason for me to ever have a Legendary price on my ship
briantherunner Nov 23, 2022 @ 8:07pm
Actually limiting the number makes a lot of sense, if you can only have two it makes for meaningful decisions and makes them more valuable. We value things that are harder to get, it is supply and demand at work. I would rather legendaries be unique and super strong than just another rarity above like in most games. If we can equip them all then it devalues them because they would have to get nerfed to make them balanced.

a True RPG lets the Player have Full Gear be Legendary if your going to think like this then go wine to the Devs of other RPG games Like Blizzard and there Diablo games or Black Desert that even lets you do that i can name countless other games that let you have all Gerslots be Legendary

yes, honestly, when I heard that you could only equip a limited number of golden gear... it completely "demotivated" me to even try getting one...
I know it's to limit being overpowered, but I don't like it at all. We should have the option to equip our gear how we really want to...

One possible way would be to diminish the drop rate of gear from felled enemies as a "handicap" for"overpoweredness" ;)

having a limited number of slots depending on the ship type is ALREADY "good enough" as a gear limiting factor... IMHO
