You do realize the irony of your statement right? You make the game more complex by allowing manual dropping from supralight.
What's more complicated of aim at your destination...tap a key..and sit back?
They never said it was an open world game last I checked...so I fail to see the issue here.
If anything its not that much different than Everspace 1 in that regard.
Elite Dangerous's Hyperdrive/Jump Drive locks you in between star systems... UNLESS you get nailed by a alien with an jump drive interdiction mod (unless you have the counter to it)
and yes...there is a way to force your ship to fall short by encountering an uncharted system that can't be seen on the map....but the games massive...and that's rare in itself. Requires a little bit of guessing and work....never done it myself.
But I digress....this is nothing like Everspace 2...coincidental it may be...its not open world by any means.
