Thank you,

It sounds exactly like an exploit where you don’t have to worry about your hull ever so long as you have a few armour modules in your inventory. Let’s say they removed the lock, having to balance this would be absurd as enemies would need to do a lot more damage to increase the difficulty and break through all armours you swap in and out before they even touch your hull.
Edit: you don’t have to go back to base. You can simply go to the nearest docking place and repair your armour there.
We are aware of the inconvenience of locking armor to prevent near-infinite armor exploit. While it might not be changing anytime soon, know that we're not 100% happy with the current build and will very likely be changing how players equip/unequip primary/secondary weapons and all the various modules for a clean, simple way to experiment with found loot without breaking the intended balance of combat.
1: Armor locks because if you swapped it - you'd have near infinite health as the dev pointed out. - Lock only removes if your docked. Yeah annoying if you find a better armor mod in flight...but understandable.
2: Armor can be repaired by making kills 9 times out of 10.....kind of handy...not nearly OP...but its a nice feature...pretty sure all of them do this as I've had lots of situations where my ship gets banged up..I take out a whole squad..full health again. Or just dock at the nearest landing pad.
Now if your going to call it a "deal breaker" - ok.....that's on you....but honestly? Non-issue here.
The last time I died was like 3 times in the first few hours......I've come close to getting my tail handed to me a few times - but I usually get out just fine...and I've had some mother of all furballs lately.....its a non-issue really. (Currently roaming about in an Interceptor I+ )
Honestly i found myself having to make frequent pit stops because of limited inventory space anyways and to check for items used for upgrading perks
This.......constantly drowning in mats. I generally only repair once in a while.
I completely understand not being able to swap out armor while in battle, as that would definitely break the game. But why not after I barely escape a fight and am now in space with nobody around me? It's at that point that I now have to take the time to hyperdrive back to a base to either repair or swap out my armor, which is getting very tedious at this point in the game. I understand the need to keep this from making the game too easy, which it sounds like later in the game would definitely occur as you get much stronger and accumulate more items, better armor, etc. Of note, my steam time is not accurate as I have the game on hold for much of that time doing other things, so I'm actually only an hour or two outside of the tutorial area (as mentioned). Maybe there is a happy medium somewhere?
Anyway, thanks again and happy gaming to everyone :)

You keep playing...you learn..you adapt...you grow...you get better mods...better upgrades.
It becomes a non-issue as you get experience and get better.
At first its gonna be tough....so be a little paranoid..don't go full in - snipe/be sneaky/dirty.....that's how I get away with wiping out destroyers in 5 seconds or less flat. :D
Will there be fast-travel to base?
I know there is the supply drone perk from Hive (which I'm in the middle of unlocking) but a fast travel to homebase would be great...even if from a space station. Or, just let us access our storage anywhere.
Only 11 hours in so maybe I've missed these options.
Well long talking short point:
Wouldn't the easiest way around all this not just bound the % you have on the armor on the ship and not on the armor piece itself? So you need to repair it anyway at some point and switching the armor only changes the base stats and % repair per kill on the armor? That way there is no infinite armor exploit as the lets say 50% of armor will stay bound on the ship instead of getting back to 100% everytime.
