Guess I'll go check it out...thought it was just a toggle in graphics settings.
In most space games, I like to switch between 1st person for zeroing in on dogfights and 3rd when I have to pull tight or evasive maneuvers, though TBH I found the extra modes in this one to be a bit extraneous. Narrow 3rd kinda defeats the purpose of 3rd, and the no-cockpit mode seems like it's just a glorified photo mode. More importantly, having to cycle through 4 modes instead of 2 makes it feel just a little bit clunkier than it needs to be.
Granted some devs don't implement good TPP (looking at you Bethesada).
Elite Dangerous gives full 360 Radar/awareness and allows you to look around in your cockpit...kind of an unfair comparison.
That said..its a bit hard to navigate in this game in 1st person perspective.
