How to do the "Get Close to the Sun" mission

I've been playing the game for weeks and trying to figure out what the game wants me to do as far as "Get close to the sun". I have flown right up to the sun. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

It's easier than it sounds.

Just go into supralight and fly manual - no destination and fly like your going to do a near-miss - just approach and do a tight orbit - should click in like it did for me. Worst case fly right at it - should auto pilot you away.

If it won't trigger - get closer until it starts alarming. Wasn't too hard when I did it. :)

i aimed straight for the edge of the sun at full clip cursor hardly touching the darkness of space and crossed my fingers that i would not go boom worked first try might be speed related?

i just did this as i finally got around to doing it all and i flew straight at the sun and it came up saying complete so give that a go

F* that .... i did it in Ceto and Union , but in Zharkow ... no way! I fly painly close and near alongside the sun, noting! i fly directly into the sun and explode due to damage ... nothing. This won´t trigger for me! :(

Forget it! I penetrated the wrong sun! Was in the wrong System *facepalm*
I just leave my stupidity for the whole internet to see, hoping it will still help others! :)

i guess you fullfilled the needed Steps to unlock the last step, that is flying close to the Sun?
