Question regarding Squads/individual units.
Hey,

So I recently picked up the game and noticed something a little different to what I'm use to, that being squads with the AI blip and not being able to break them down into individual units.

I figured I'm "new" and probably missing something with the controls. As someone use to breaking their infantry into component pieces and using them as best as I can. I would appreciate the assistance if I can turn that off and break them down into individual units once more.

Thanks in advance :)

those unbreakable infantry squads come at a discount

as far as i know those squads cant be broken down, they are usually more effective at fighting and surviving then the squads that can be broken down but come with the obvious downsides of not being able to control individual models. And when you order the squad to throw a grenade the whole squad will try to throw at that one target/location. Some of these squads have special purposes like the patrol squad(i think that's what its called) can find hidden units behind ur lines more effectively then normal inf.

This one again!

The "Separate Squads" are the ones you cant separate, the ones marked AI. They give you a mix of units at a massive cost reduction. If you make a "Heavy Infantry Squad" out of various other things, you have multiple Rifle and SMG squats, some AT/bazooka teams, an officer, some other stuff...so instead of 4-5 Battalion "cards", and tons of cost/pop cap, you can get the "heavy squad".

This is particularly useful to non-infantry batts. I could push with tanks and leave an actually useful squad to hold an area without many infantry units taking up battalion space.

If you want fancy teams with mixed gear that you can actually split up, there are things like the USA marines/rangers and their counterparts in other armies. They are expensive and high tier, but take one slot and have a mix of gear and high skills and CAN be split.

AS FOR GRENADES
Hold Shift when clicking the target and only the closest guy will toss a grenade, you can click multiple times to toss a bunch or to make a wide wall of smoke grenades, for example.

Eh, I don't like that mechanic very much I won't lie. Personally feel like that is taking away from the essence that is Men of war.

Playing PVP/PVE in the first to assault squad, each individual unit if used correctly was devastating. You could space them and place them into cover as you wanted.

Now I have to watch as I dig trench systems and the AI bunch up together and get killed by one arty shell because I can't space them out as individuals? or send up a single guy to scout whats a head instead of watching the whole squad get gunned down.

I saw the scout units, still weird.

One can space out a squad and stretch their positioning out.

Let's get used to this new mechanic shall we? That's why the game is called Men of war II. Troop selection can be learned as to dealing with inseparable squads or the trade mark separable ones. I didn't see much opinion about playing Company of Heroes inseparable squads. Maybe it's just a change of design that we are used to have in MoW franchise for so long.

Use the squads you CAN split up...problem solved.

The separate squad are there so you do not have to micro your whole army. However their AT grenades will run out unlike their ammo so they should be use to just hold the line while your micro individual soldier to do the hard work.
