Isn’t this obvious to you? This Men of War is compared to the other titles in the genre and franchise. Most of them even share the same base of engine and mechanics. But games like Call to Arms for example are much more historically accurate, have more details and are more complex which is what most people been looking for when playing a strategy game like this.
Strategy is in a very difficult place right now as a genre in total. Expectations are high, while the budget on them seems to shrink. Triple A Publishers do not dare to touch this genre anymore.

And this game was basically outdated (in terms of graphics and mechanics) when it was released.

I grew up on these games. But with me, so did many others. And you can’t sell the same thing over and over again without a good twist / spin on it. These days I am looking for to games like Broken Arrow which actually push into new directions both in terms of graphics and in game mechanics.

And BOY are the menus janky compared to the prior MoW games.

The game is fun at its core, people are complaining about health bars on tanks but they technically always had them but they were hidden, anyone remember when you would hull break on the old games? I do, it’s a visual representation of that. Always online is also an issue people have but the devs have said that it’ll be removed.

The MOWAS 2 skirmish gamemode is not present, people are also oblivious MOWAS2 classic gamemodes exist in the game with assault zone as well.

The GOH, MOW, MOWAS community are a toxic bunch of know-it-alls, and they all want something different. In my opinion, the devs made a spiritual successor to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II but imho put the wrong name tag on it to gain visibility.

What i see here are mostly toxic defensive answers insulting those who complain even if complaints are reasoned or even accepted by the devs. Not very useful to read those aggressive defensive answers from very aggressive pvpers. There are reviews negative and positive that try to reason and explain what's good and what's bad much more useful and honest than these kind of answers.

52% is an abysmal rating for a game that costs 45 eur, so OP's question is totally legit and some of you do a disservice to the game you are defending with such blind, 1-sided answers.

For someone interested in this kind of strategy games that wants to know sincere opinions about how's the game, this kind of attitude sincerely puts off. Even more for those interested in the pve part of the game, knowing that the game is always-online and a part of it seems to be playing against the sames that answer that way. No, thanks.

Finally, @ibuprofen answer is at least useful. Thank you from a potential buyer and i totally agree with you in that the actual situation for strategy games is a very difficult one.

A mediocre rated game will always have a flame war.

At 30% it ends in game over comedy and only when a game gets to 80% score... then most people smooth out in happiness :)

In 3 months people will calm down, regardless of score.

First of all: Game is not sh|t, game has a very big potential. Bad rewiews mostly for the current state of the game. People don't like that there's no offline mod right now (devs literally said that it's in development before release, lol). Graphics, tank models, etc - It was done on a coolest level possible. Better than Gays of Hell 100x time. When they will add more nations, some hotfixes, and changes - people will change their opinion. This game needs more things from MOWAS 2, because as I can tell - it is a best RTS Strategy even in 2024.
Second: Well, people can't wait. They want all here and now. Despite the fact that game is playable right now anyway. No reasons to refund, I mean, just look at me. I have 400+ hrs in MOWAS, I played Gates of Hell, I played MOWAS, and I am very big fan of strategies, and I still found this game pretty interesting.
Just have a little patience. This game is already better 100x times even in performance compared to Gays of Hell. People will soon switch to this game.
If you want - there's no reasons to not buy it. Current state of the game is pretty normal for a fresh release, there's many units and content even on that stage of the game. Also a PVE mode if you'll get bored in PVP.
