Are collectible units expendable?

Pretty much title. Are these units expended if they say die in combat?
For instance I bought a total of 3 German Luchs, now I cannot find a single of them in any battalion, and trying to equip one it says Available: 0

No, they are still in your composition even if they died.

No, they are still in your composition even if they died.

Thank you, was looking like hell for the units. Only to find them in my Combined arms regiment.

Yeah, it's a completely absurd design. I think it is a holdover from when they were probably going to make it a micro transaction hellscape when it was MoW Arena.
