Conquest can’t control single units
Anyone have this issue with squads they say ai on them and you have to select them as entire squads and can’t use a single unit can’t even do direct control

It has been said many times, but:

The squads that say AI are designed that way. They are "separate squads" or some such confusing term.
The point of them is that you give up some micro control of the squad (treating the entire group as you would a single tank), but you get a LOT more mixed and valuable kit for a significant cost reduction (compared to getting a rifle squad AND an AT team AND some sappers AND some assault guys, etc).

They are useful for us support players that just want to drop a squad to hold a position but dont want to optimize a mixed team's placement and dont want to give up 2-3 battalion slots and cost for a temporary defensive team.

Those squads can't be split up, things like Jaegers/Heavy Infantry Squad etc.

Light Infantry squad as an example is a Company of Heroes style squad while SMG recruits are individuals.

Adding to Shortpower's comment, controlling one unit to do his own thing has been a standard in Men of war and Call to arms franchises, that's why it seems awkward for players to play like the Company of Heroes squad design in Men of War II. Maybe, let's give some time to get used to some of these changes.

Honestly, it is only awkward because it is NOT explained to the players, knowing full well it changes a core dynamic. They did botch the unit info page and tutorial. Things they can easily patch, but it does cause some hardship.

That's a huge issue with this game generally, descriptions/info tabs lie or fail to explains just about everything past "This game is an RTS similar to Men of War"

A somewhat decent example is mechanized infantry, it doesn't tell you what the dudes in the box are used for so you have to trust the flavor text and iirc the flavor text for Panzergrenadiers explicitly lies about the type of squad it is.

Or the Tank Commander for US which claims to have Rangers riding it, but it's marines.
Brandenburgers and their "2 MG42s"

A wrong UI element is worse than no UI element.
Wrong information is worse than no information.

They really should rename those squads “detachments.”

So like: SMG Detachment (Recruits)

It would also be nice to be able to call detachment infantry in any amount up to five per call in. Sometimes I just need one to recreate something g.
