Enable chatting!
I think this game would be a lot more fun if you could chat. Risk is in the end a social game.

I have to respectfully disagree. This may seem like a good idea in theory but lack of chat is the only thing that keeps in game play from becoming as toxic as this forum. Every game people arguing.. complaining about dice rolls, bugs, devs, accusing others of cheating.. it would make it utterly unenjoyable. I am not saying that stuff shouldnt be discussed, just that it should stay here.

Chatting should be left for Risk games with people you know.. and even those can end poorly lol, I am sure most people here can think of a time with a fight between friends or family over a game.

No. It would enable more cheating, and we already way too much of that.

Uuuuuuuurgh! Imagine having to talk to some of these players! I'm sure the guy sitting in the corner doing nothing, hoping for second, has a lot of interesting things going on that I want to hear about.....

Nah, the communication as it is is fine enough. Holds back a lot of the toxicity as mentioned. But there's enough there to still have a laugh in those occasional fun games.

iirc the devs themselves said they cant add a standard chat feature as it would allow adults to talk to children

idk if this is a legal requirement or an ip holder requirement

I would say that's a lie from the devs. Other games have voice chat. Steam has it. Discord has it. Thus, it's not illegal. Besides, if predatory adults want to talk to children online, there's no shortage of ways to do it.

keep in mind the devs dont own the risk ip, something i mentioned at the very end of my comment

ofcourse it could be a lie but like why lie about something like that?

If it was because of the IP agreement, then the proper, simple, and straightforward answer for the dev to give is, "Because the IP agreement doesn't allow us to".

And the answer to your question is, "Because corporations lie about anything and everything when it suits their purposes." You must be new to these forums, as SMG are well-known liars when it comes to this game.

No, that would be a legit reason. Anything you release these days can require different certifications in different countries. Typical things are; violence, drug use, etc. Online chat would definitely be a criteria.

So it's not illegal, no. The point is that they want a family friendly, all ages Rating.
