If he doesn't ♥♥♥♥ up and releases a bomb update that fixes the game, I'm sure reviews will change from mixed to positive.

4300 upvotes on the video and 200 downvotes.
People really want a good game, and i really hope he does it this time.

Well either the game will become entertaining again or we get another round of fertile internet drama. I have no strong preferences at this stage.

ditto.

i dont get how anyone who was here from the start could hype on this probably well before the release of it.

I check in on CubeWorld probably bi yearly, one of the best times I ever had in a video game. I just prefer to have a positive outlook, I'm sure no one thought Darth Vader was going to betray Palpatine and be returned to the light. But guess what! Those movie goers were in for a shock.

And here everyone goes with being overly optimistic again.

You'd think everyone would learn to take a neutral wait and see cautious approach to this and think logically, but I suppose hype train just clouds judgement and throws logic out the window.

I 100% wish Wollay the best in turning around this disaster of his own making, but regardless of the outcome I'm neither hyped or rioting. I'm just going to sit back and observe. Would I love to see him turn it around and have his own version of the No Man's Sky redemption arc? Sure, absolutely. I won't wish another ill. I wish him the best.

I'm also a realist though, and I see nothing here this go around that's any different at its core than the last time. He disappeared for a long stretch of time, sheltered himself in his own isolated bubble, and then returned and dropped a big fundamental change on everyone.

The changes to the game for me aren't even the make or break point. To me it goes deeper than that. The sheer lack of, over and over again, communication and dialogue between Wollay and this community that obviously very dearly cares about him and his work is just astonishing.

It doesn't take much to get a public back and forth going. Doesn't take much to just simply acknowledge that he made mistakes in the past. I don't see any evidence that he learned from the last go around.

So I'll just sit back, wait, and watch. I'm neither hopeful, nor upset. More baffled than anything, honestly. To me, the entire history of Cube World can pretty much be summed up in a very recognizable quote from our boy Vaas Montenegro.

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact same thing over and over again expecting things to change."

See im hopeful for this to be good, I really am. But with wollay's track record of just releasing a update, Then leaving when people **** on it rather than improve it. Im not too hopeful for it.

I hope it does come out to be good, However someones already made a version of cubeworld thats better than the original, And hes gonna have to rewin the fans trust by actually doing some good stuff.

That's another valid point. Last time around, Veloren wasn't a thing. Now it is, and it has active developer communication, transparency, road maps, etc.

Given that, even though the two games are different, they still have many similarities. Now there's competition.

There's a few other projects more directly inspired than Veloren.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1803500/Fableforge looks like the best bet to me.

I love how on that game, in the "Why Early Access" portion, the dev's answer is "Developing in a vacuum isn't a very good idea."

Wonder where we've all heard/seen that happening before...

i’m hoping for the best for all the fans of the game! i don’t know 100% of the situation but i can definitely understand how frustrating it’s been for so long for everyone that enjoyed this game. i do hope that Wollay is in a stable place to really focus on the game and prove to the community that he’s not just getting their hopes up! Wollay is just another person like the rest of us and while it’s fair to expect or want the game to be worked on at the same time sometimes people need to back off and i do really hope his sudden comeback follows through with what everyone has been wanting and the game is returned to glory & made better than ever

lol.

its so true though. i've seen a few one to two man projects that turned out great and within a decent amount of time, and the common factor was community relations. probably a good work ethic and goals didnt hurt either.

A recent example I have is for Silksong. They're a small team, but instead of letting fans go mad from no news, they dropped a "we're still working on it, here's why it takes longer".

Some simple communication and they made a lot of people content, even though it's technically a delay notice, so you'd expect some people to be annoyed.

The Hytale devs do the same thing. They make regular posts and do small creator interviews to at least let people know despite the billion delays that the work is still ongoing.
