An update from wollay!

I posted this on the pinned thread but I figured not everyone will see it so I’ll post it here too!

So yes, most of you have heard about wollay latest songs he uploaded on SoundCloud recently, they perfectly fit in Cube World as they do have similarities compared to official Cube World songs. (My opinion)

But wait! There’s more juicy news -which to my surprise hasn’t been posted here(?), since it’s pretty big news-

Wollay replied to several people through e-mail, confirming he has been working on a new/better version of his program Plasma.

Plasma is fundamentally needed to create cube world/voxel.
(Not exactly sure if it’s needed for the artwork/ai or for the game’s code).
He also mentions the new version will be more mod-friendly! Which is great since mods in cube world became crucial.

Nonetheless, it looks promising. I’m hyped but also a little skeptic obviously, knowing wollay and cube worlds history. Let me know what you guys think!

I understand what you’re saying and you definitely have a point. I think it’s safe to say that anyone that’s still interested in CW would like more announcements/communication through wollay/CW’s official social media (like twitter). However I don’t think it was his intention (him confirming by email he’s still working on cube world) to get that out to the public as an official ‘statement’. For example, if we look back how he couldn’t really deal with the critique given back years ago and how it gave him mental health issues, like anxiety and depression. I would fully understand he wants to work on it, without everyone expecting an update. It probably gives him rest and more peace in his mind. The reason why I’m thinking this is because I also deal with anxiety daily. Again, this is just me pure speculating so I could be wrong. But thats just my thought why he doesn’t communicate. But yes to get back to your point, you’re right.

I know you’re very skeptical (and you have every right to be) and many others, myself including. I’m just trying to keep it positive, this news together with the songs that he uploaded on SC, I genuinely think it looks promising.

Unfortunately, without trying to be an ass or being sarcastically satiric, it will be probably be legitimately years before we even see these updates in action -- if they even come out the way they are promised.

Wollay has a terrible habit of promising/saying one thing and then adding a little more. And I can completely understand because I suffer from the exact same habit when it comes to writing; whether it be the story I am working on or forum posts like this one which I am resisting the urge to go back and completely change even right now.

Honestly yeah, Wollay has admitted his main flaw, and by that to an extend of the game, is that he is going at the game with a perfectionist mindset. He hasn't taken the time to gather community feedback on what works and what doesn't. As a rogue I wish fighting certain bosses wasn't so miserable solo, when attack animations can just be spammed indefinitely, have poor telegraphing, or both.

All that while selling a broken game for three years? Announcing any new update now, without even mentionning fixing the artefact system, is beyond retarded.

The Idea that he would have been working secretly on the game all this time to add new content when he never even fixed the basic bugs breaking his game to start with just makes no sense at all. This is way to stupid for me to believe.

He is most definitely not working on the game at all but on some other unrelated software he wants to sell.

I want to be clear for those who might get the wrong impression of what my intention are.

I’m absolutely not here trying to justify wollay or defend. I’m confident that for the most part think the same way many here do regarding his past and what not.
I posted this with my best intentions and nothing else. I know it’s a controversial topic, which I completely understand.

And yes, like I previously mentioned twice on this post, I also am very skeptic. whether this information is legit obviously I can’t guarantee, for several reasons.

I obviously am being realistically about it. But despite all that, I also want to stay positive, let’s talk about the fact it indeed COULD be faked, or as someone mentioned earlier that it’s a april fool. All that could be, but honestly I don’t think this is the case, the fact there are still people so passionate about this game and even are willing to still make videos regarding CW knowingly it barely gets views, makes me think it’s very possible he’s not faking or some weird joke, he even pointed out the fact that yes, he uploaded the video around April 1st this news got out around mid march. What even would be the reason to fake this information, which is pretty specific information. Too specific information to even come up with this, regarding Plasma, not even directly CW. in my opinion. If his small fanbase that’s mainly CW find out it was fake, he’d probably lose lots of his fanbas.

I don’t think the emails are faked by some random dude, keep in mind this information got out in the official cw discord. Not that this necessarily means it couldn’t be fake.

I don’t know, that’s just how I think of it and I shared this here since this the forum of CW after all lol. I figured that maybe some people would’ve like to hear this.
