How to make Cube World into a timeless classic
I'm a huge fan from Summer 2013. I posted something similar shortly after beta but it was quickly buried. I emailed Wollay as well, I hope he read it.

One persistent world ~100*100 realms big (where one realm is the same average size as a realm from the Cube World alpha but where their sizes vary a lot so you could have rare micro nations and huge realms) spread out over several continents and seas. Generated, adjusted and later patched by Wollay where it might be needed, upon player feedback. All players would share this world: new characters would use the same seed upon spawn but spawn in different places in the world.

Each realm would have a "power level". This power level would be 1-11 at the lowest, and 100-110 at the highest. Monsters in every realm would spawn with a power level inside of respective span. New characters would always spawn in realms with a power level of 1-11. The world would generally have the weakest realms at the outer limits of the world map, and the strongest realms would be closer to the center of the world.

Each realm would have several unique bosses with unique names, each with their own unique stats/loot tables generated at genesis. These bosses would be persistent and native to their realms. Each realm could also feature persistent biome/weather effects. Stepping foot into a level 86-96 undead realm might carry the risk of encountering evil weather that curses your character, requiring potions and spells to counter that effect. A level 54-64 hell realm might feature rain of fire DoT damage, requiring a Water Mage's blessing to protect from it. An ice world might have blizzards slowing your character down. Etc etc.

Items would have item levels ranging from 1-100, with rarity levels such as white, green, blue, purple and orange. Any rarity level could theoretically appear at any item level, from any monster, with corresponding power and scarcity. These items would have random stat rolls based on rarity level, like boots with +% run speed or double jump, a weapon with extra attack damage, attack speed, poison or elemental damage, or perhaps armor with +% HP or buff/heal/AoE/curse effects that have a small chance of triggering every time you get hit, etc. Higher rarity levels would feature additional stat rolls (a green item might only offer one stat roll whereas an orange item might offer 4 different stat rolls), with stronger modifiers. There are near infinite possibilities.

Every realm could have a generic main quest with a main dungeon that could be conquered for a guaranteed blue item (with a small chance of a purple item and tiny chance of an orange item instead) of an item level matching that realm's power level (for example, if you beat the main dungeon in a power level 23-33 realm you might get a level 25 blue item or maybe a level 31 purple item if you're really lucky. Obviously, if you're insanely fortunate you might get something like a level 110 orange item with perfect rolls from a power level 100-110 realm, for example. These items would fetch stupendously high prices, far beyond perfect major runewords in Diablo 2 for example.

Additional guaranteed rewards in low power level realms could be having the flight master offer you a free flight to any other realm of suitable power level so that weak players would never get stuck in a low level realm if their starting realm should happen to be surrounded by relatively high power level realms.

Level 100-110 realms, being endgame, could have extra strong bosses yielding more good loot than usual, higher monster spawn rates etc. Since there would only be one seed to play on, this would let endgame players share coordinates/realm names for exciting and difficult realms with great loot, and communities could form around conquering them. You could get badges/achievements for beating many elite realms etc.

You could offer an NG+ mode for characters upon reaching level 100. Rolling NG+ with a character could let people start over from level 1 but with (small) permanent buffs to skills, or character stats like regeneration, attack damage, haste, resistance, max HP, etc. This could be extremely interesting to people who want to spend a long time grinding out super strong niche characters in order to beat elite realms that would be impossible for a normally geared non-NG+ level 100 character.

You could also give players the ability to combine good materials (rare gems and ores that you would find in the overworld) in order to get spirit cubes with small +% buffs to things like HP, defense, damage etc. You could keep them and use the customization bench in towns to put them in weapons or shields that you really like. You could even have spirit cubes be different colors/glow for maximum collectability and vanity points. Again, near infinite possibilities. Imagine a high level orange item with strong spirit cubes with neat colors and high-tier rolls. There's endless RNG for people who should want it.

Skill trees could also be developed. A major problem in alpha was that you'd get to level 20-30 and suddenly leveling up wouldn't mean much. If every class had additional skills (or entire skill trees) with synergies, it might would be more fun. With a level cap of 100 you could maybe come up with skill trees similar to those in Diablo 2.

This post is based upon ideas seen in classic games such as Dwarf Fortress, Terraria, WoW and Diablo 2. Please fill in with your own ideas if you have any. I am 100% convinced that Cube World would be fully vindicated and also become the smash hit of this decade if Wollay did something along the lines of above. He also needs to communicate with his community.

That's nice and all, but seeing the scale would even make AAA companies sweat, let alone wollay. Also, if we look how much he managed to create in over 7+ years, we either go back to tennis for two[en.wikipedia.org] (as he removed more than he added) or our great-great-great-grandchildren will maybe get access to content like this, but not us, we can be happy if we get a content update or even a patch before retiring (and I'm 31).

If wollay was willing to add content like this he would need:
- 100+ devs, desiners, and sound artists
- multiple metric F**ktons of money
- a solid roadmap that is getting updated regularly
- multiple spokespersons
- a community who is still willing to invest hope in his product

nah at this point the best this game could hope for is sell the concept, let someone else do a remaster

its been only 10 years since its first debut, clearly long enough for a remaster right?
Mod all that in and I'll give you 50$

Why would Wollay sell the scam that he has already used twice and people still defend him?
He is a con man, not game developer.

was this post supposed to answer its own question?

Why would he sell it again?

because he is a con man.

i'm simply making the joke about how publishers and devs alike have this this period in game development where everyone is like "just put out a remaster dont worry about trying to fix the original its too old." and CW has had its first playable version released 10 years ago or so. so clearly its time to just release a remaster would be the next step right? by your own logic of him being a con man anyway.

It was more about the selling of concept, it would be like selling cash tree for him.

No, I don't think he would need that. What I am proposing doesn't call for many new assets but mostly tweaks to the existing game.

I might just create my own Cube World clone some day.

Honestly, that's the hope. You or somebody. Your ideas here are really good, but throwing them at OG Cube World is shouting into the void.

You could also work on Veloren mods, if you want an established open source engine to build on.

There are plenty of games similar to cube world, Veloren was mentioned, Trove is kinda similar but man is it a laggy mess, and Clone Drone in the Danger Zone looked pretty cool.

i enjoyed trove but yeah, the latency is a real pain. i have gig internet and still see the issue, its simply minimal effort into their servers or hopping on the day everything resets or a big name popular streamer is on to get them dream codes.
