Nichiren has popped up again with a big new modding drive.
Anyone had a look at it?

### Features
Features of this mod include sea exploration, lore interactions and combat improvements.

#### Sea exploration
Going underwater will spawn random hostile fishes around you. Going underwater usually drains stamina.
This is still the case, however now 10 gold is automatically used to gain the underwater breathing ability for 10 seconds.
On top of that, underwater exploring is rewarded with random chests spawning every 60 seconds.
The chest types are:
- Wood chest [Chances to drop gold, 1 - 5 star gear and consumables (also including unavailable ones)]
- Skull chest [Drops gold and one or two 4 - 6 star gear items]
- Obsedian chest [Drops artifacts]
- Bone chest [Drops pets (also including unavailable pets)]

#### Lore interactions
Lore interactions are updated.
- Every (lore < 100) has a maximum of 50% (based on lore) chance to drop a 1 star gear.
- Every (lore >= 100 && lore < 150) has a maximum of 50% (based on lore) chance to drop 2-3 star weapon.
- Every (lore >= 150) has a maximum of 100% (based on lore) chance to drop an artifact.

#### Combat improvements
New combat abilities added:
- The 1 key converts your mana to stamina.
- The 2 key restores you to full health at the cost of 50 combo.

If the doubletap functionality is active, the following abilities can be activated by double tapping the mentioned key.
If it is disabled, it can be activated using leftControl + mentioned key.
- The movement keys (WASD) can be pressed for movement abilities (WAD) and an attack ability (S). The costs of these abilities is currently 75 stamina.

I haven't tried it out yet but from what I can see it sounds like a pretty big switch up

Just having ocean life sounds great, especially combined with that worldgen mod that makes half the regions water based. Those empty seas with the occasional shark flapping around on the beaches were a big immersion killer.

[New] Spirit cubes are back. Item vendors sell them and gem traders have a chance of selling some as well.
[Bug] Fixed character creation and selection was crashing.
[Bug] Fixed most creates becoming invincible.
[New] Added new world generation, which creates big islands with similar biomes
[New] Players start in different regions now (not only the basic region)
[New] Starting gold for new characters is increased to 40g for a faster start.

Spirit cubes. You know I'm starting to think Wollay's talk of a ground up code rewrite that's 'basically version 2.0' might have been a little hyperbolic.

yeah the code wasn't re-written, just his concepts of what made a good game so he shelved everything that wasn't in that vision.

Not even commented out apparently, just not implemented in worldgen.

Update: Mod developer is now looking to expand this to a complete all-in-one modded game experience, and seeking ideas for player progression systems to augment or replace region lock.

They've even joked about adding mod support to the mod. :ponyisland:

For the features of this weeks release, there are three new mod parts that can be turned on or off.

Region lock updates mod. Instead of losing all usefullness, gear slowly loses their effectivity the more regions you go away.
Weapon adaption / upgrade mod. Talking to NPC's with the tag smithy (in some villages at the smithy) allows you to upgrade your weapons.

Next there are some bugs that people brought to my attention that have been fixed. Please keep notifying me of bugs via discord, reddit or github.

Fixed Error lock 1from appearing.
Fixed new biomes messing with world generation like plants.
Patched items dropping from creatures being in random biomes.
Also, the pet stat increases have been nerfed quite a bit because they were too OP.

That was it for the mod update from this week. Please keep sending me cool mod idea's and other awesome stuff! Also share this with anyone you know that has played CubeWorld release and might be interested. I am trying to make the game as much fun as possible for everyone out there and I am trying to reach as many people as possible.
I assume xp and skill trees are coming soon.

It should pop up a 'Play with mods? Y/N' window on launch.

You'll need this thing in the game's root folder https://github.com/ChrisMiuchiz/Cube-World-Mod-Launcher/releases and any mod .dll files in a Mods/ subfolder.

someone who genuinely thinks a game should be amazing and fun out of the box and not need 1000 community fixes?

or in some cases, achievment hunters cuz some games that detect mods disable achievements since some mods are basically cheats and ruin the challenges presented by the developers.

or because modding is a hassle and or risky. i remember a custom server program for Terraria caught flak because it was discovered there was some code that basically gave the dev of the app a backdoor into anyone's server. forgot the name... T something. Tshock? either way nothing really came of it that is known but the fact it existed means someone could come along and do the same here. glad it hasn't happened yet, it'd just be another excuse for wollay to not push an update. "oh i was gonna until someone exploited the game via mods and got backdoor access to peoples computers now i gotta counter code this from happening see you in another 6 years"
