Cube World

Cube World

Download a character from the Internet
Now it is possible to download found characters from the Internet to the game. Absolutely any level and with any items. Will it be fixed, or so conceived?

Since the steam version is pretty much a full rewrite, those characters almost certainly will not work.

Just like how old save games won't =)

In the Alpha it was incredibly easy to just make an overpowered character with a third party program, even though there was little point in doing that since the game was mostly about getting new stuff and leveling up, I'm assuming it didn't change much in that regard.

Old saves and characters (from alpha) will not work in release version, so... There's nothing to fix.

Yeah, that's what I didn't like that when you go in a MP game some guy just has like level 10000 and is going around non-stop spamming abilities, but I believe it'll all be fixed now.

You can do this in Monster Hunter World as well. I kinda think it defeats the purpose of the game and not many people will care if you do this unless there ends up being PvP and/or public servers where you can import a character. In terms of just playing CubeWorld with friends or solo, I don't think anyone will really care if you decide to bypass most of the game except yourself or your friends.

So? It's just a matter of reworking however they mod characters.

Like millions of said already regarding modding, people will find a way, regardless if modding is supported or not. If someone wants to cheat that badly, they'll find a way.

Then again, I read that quests now scale to individual players, Dead Island style. So if one player is 10 and another is 50, they will supposedly both be facing enemies at level 10 and 50 respectively. If someone mods their character to 1,000,000, are they going to face facing level 1,000,000 enemies? Does it even go that high? If it does, cheating your character seems to only be more pointless.

This might not hold true at all though if the "per-land progression" and "permanent character progression" alters the way scaling works.

Unless the game is going to have some sort of auto-matchmaking, I don't really see it as a problem.

This seems like the kind of game where the only people you would be willing to play with is people you actually know. Usually the cheaters are dead silent and unknown, and just come waltzing in. If the only available option to get players in your game is direct invites, (no server browsers or matchmaking) then not getting cheaters in your game is more controlled.

For public dedicated servers though, it's a different story.
