Desync (Resolved, fix in thread)
Is there any way to get rid of the huge amount of desync the multiplayer suffers from? I understand that it'd be out of sync by a second or 2 but if I start walking and my buddies see me walk 20 seconds later that's unplayable. Same goes the other way around. Tested this with people in my region and other regions, still the same. Ideas or fixes?

Nothing much except check ping and jitter between players and host. Also, be sure your internet can handle it. For some dumb reason game goes nuts sometimes and starts to chug internet like insane.
Also, just for sake of saying it, hope you don't use discord voice. or steam voice.

Doesn't seem to be chugging internet on my end, tried without discord voice but still not really working out sadly. Thanks for the help though. Internet is decent, the alpha server back then had literally no lag on the same connections.
Yeah, but netcode is very different from alpha days...
I personally have much better experience now than in alpha, even with dedicated server back in the day.
I don't say it chugs all the time, just sometimes, probably some bug somewhere.
Maybe it's related to jitter? or packet loss? You know, someone watching youtube in your house. or your friend's house. I'm sure you understand how these things work by now.
What's weird, one of my friends always lag as insane, even if he have pretty good internet. We thought it was my connection (can't push mobile 4G too much afterall, especially when it comes to ping), but i'm now playing with another friend and i literally have no problems at all. Like, MAX 1s of delay and that's rare. Like, for 5s in an hour. Whole thing is a mystery sometimes.

Agreed. Do we know what port the local server runs on? Is it still 12345 like back in the days? Might be worth a shot trying to do some direct port forwarding, that usually helped.
And yeah I do know how this works, it's just a problem all my friends have only with this game atm. Worth a shot trying to maybe pinpoint the problem.

I'm sure it's controlled by steam services now considering it's exclusively steam play thing. (which is p2p, but some of it goes through steam servers for some dumb reason). Not hard to figure out port if you really want to tho
And, on Steam Play topic, I'm sure forwarding steam play ports break them to oblivion just like before, making it a chore to do. (there should be no need for forwarding tho)

Well you gotta grasp at what little you can work with in cases like this.

Found a fix that worked for us.
Change antiAliasingSamples 8 to antiAliasingSamples 1 in the options.cfg inside of your Cube World folder for everyone who wants to know how to resolve the 10-15 seconds long desync. Now it only has the normal ~1 second ping lag, but items are being picked up instantly and so forth.
