Not every zone has every item, I've got a warrior and his starting zone has a hang glider and a sailboat. I have found no other exploration items in the region and I've searched every nook and cranny, including finding 3 artifacts.
Best tip is to look for them at night as they are shiny and stand out at nighttime.
I left this game (not deleted) and started new one, as mage...
... maybe not every zone could be completed? Maybe map is corrupted sometimes, or maybe we got not enough experience?
Thanks for the replies! I'll give a reply here if i find them. You know, in case someone else is in the same zone with the same issues. I still don't know if we all have the same map, just spawn at different places (i read a rumor that said everyone has the same map seed, only spawn at random places).
In fact if you want I can help you look for it if you friend me cause I'm kinda tired of this post dragging on.
When I found the Climbing Spikes in this same realm, they were hidden within a conifer tree branch. I actually had to destroy tree branches in order to find it and then jump into the air in order to collect them. Which I found odd, but then should also show that you won't necessarily find a special item at night just by watching for it.
Something I would like to know: Can more than one special item be found in a single named area? There is a graveyard in this region but I found a Book Of Crafting there already so the area has already been checked off. Also, can all named areas show up and contain an item before they are revealed or do some areas require NPC's to tell you where they are?
As for all items, they only down in named locations, but every named location which isn't a town has an item or a "quest", so if there is a named location you didn't find travel gear or a boss mob in, that means you have missed an item there (or a gnome or whatever, though they are of harder to miss).
As for not being able to find the spirit bell, it sometime just doesn't spawn in a region, despite being needed to get through a gate. It is rare, certainly more rate than missing sky whistles, but it happens, but yeah, combing the main map on zoom step 1:8 and after that 1:4 is mandatory imo, to make sure you didn't miss anything, I always do that when I enter a new region.
What gets me is that I got that Sky Whistle quite early on and have not yet found a single sky shrine in that region. I found the reins relatively late by bugging the hell out of every friendly NPC I saw but I haven't gotten anything more from them.
Someone really needs to put into the wiki that not all special items are in every region because I am just not seeing it (maybe I will put something in one of the Talk pages). I destroyed half a dozen trees in both of the two towns there and still nothing. To a completionist with OCD that would probably drive them bonkers.
