Getting Pets?

So im playing the game since Release now but I wonder how i can tame a pet. For example the Cat? its candy needed to tame it, isn't it?

So how can I tame it? Just hold it in the hand or smth?

Find a cat, usually found around villages, then navigate to the pet food part of your inventory and click the Candy item, that will put it in your hands and the cat will walk up, show a heart growing bigger and then it will be tamed

note that in most cases (except parrots) the colour matters for the food, black cats can be tamed, but white and brown ones cant because theres no food item for them, theres 2 different alpacas that each eat different types of cupcakes, and theres 4 different 'runners' that each eat different types of chocolate bars (again, parrots are the exception; theres blue parrots and red parrots, you can tame a blue parrot but it will immediately turn red)

Ah thanks for the Advice. I got a Terrier now...how can i ride him? is there any artifact i need before i can ride it?

You need the pet whip which can be found around the zone, talk to villagers and they might give you the location

When you get it you can ride your pet by pressing T while standing next to it, the same button used to recall your pet to your location, if the pet whistle for whatever reason doesn't work to resummon your pet simply navigate to your inventory, unequip the pet from your equipped menu, then re-equip it from the pet food page

And cats can be tamed with candy, color doewsnt matter. Tbh i havent seen a black cat yet but white ate candy just fine.

I'm not sure if you can ride terriers as I haven't tried, but I can ride my bumblebee so I'll go ahead and assume it's rideable. I know most avian pets can't be ridden such as the Crow, but you can carry them on your head instead

hmm white and brown i saw wouldnt eat my candy, ive also had moles not eat my donuts though so could be a bug

White and brown cats have never been tameable so I'd say you're right, I also tested this myself when the beta came out on a white cat and nothing happened so I don't know where that other person got their info, maybe Wollay patched that since then.

Also from what i have seen i think pets, are only valid for 1 region, on the next region they will still be summonable but have almost no hp or strength. At least that's what it was like during the 12 hours i played, and since the developer doesn't communicate i can't tell if that was a bug or a feature, i uninstalled the game already.

there was a bug with pet scaling (where theyd go from 1-2k health after being tamed to <200 a while after exploring), it was fixed though (now they scale with your equipment)
