Gathering artifacts will increase your level.


Level ups do absolutely nothing and are only there to tell you how many artifacts you have found in total.

the Xp system got removed, the leveling system now Is about Getting an Artifact found once per region. to find where it is, you gotta explore or discover lore

You increase in levels as you find artifacts. Increasing in level does not make you stronger in combat in any way.

Artifacts (Level) will increase one of the following attributes:
Climbing Speed
Swimming Speed
Diving Speed
Riding Speed
Hang Gliding Speed
Sailing Speed
Light Radius

Those are basically what you're working towards in each Region - Endgame.
