Just a quick question, does anyone use the crafting system for gear?

You lose your crafting recipes if you switch zones, to be able to craft the gear you need to be able to kill the enemies around the gnome, to be able to kill the enemies you need gear.
So most of the time i have already better gear than i can craft.

I guess it works if you enter a zone with a +weapon and craft the other gear, but isn't it faster to farm mobs then?

Short answer: no.

Long answer: resources are so scarce that crafting equipment will always be less efficient than buying gear from shops. Add to that that (englishderp) many of the same resources are used to customize weapons, which is almost always a better use of them.
