But yes, I definitely support, I'd love to have Alpha and the official release to play on Steam!
It would satisfy both old and new players and would allow Wollay to continue developing the newest version.
If he has the beta, he has access to the alpha. Just double checked and I see you can still download the alpha on the website.
The one that was teased and strung us along this whole time.
I have the alpha 2013 client but you have to login to the launcher to even use it so it won't work for most people.

The problem isn’t that I can’t play it. The problem is that I have had friends who have waited years to play the version I played 6 years ago. The ONLY way they can play that version is to pirate a cracked version of the alpha. Buying it on steam will not give you access to the version from 6 years ago.
On top of that it would be really nice to know that if wollay ever stopped supporting the authentication/update servers for the alpha in the future that we would still be able to access and play the alpha version without getting it from some sketchy website.
I agree i general. But here is a bit of a thing:
If you own games on services like Steam or Origin, games you really care about then i can only recommend puling versions of the net that can't be made unusable by companies like Valve or EA.
Gabe Newell isn't going to be there forever and i can nearly GUARANTEE that as soon as Valve changes owners you will see Steam ask for badly justified fees from whoever owns it next while holding your games for ransom.
