I just purchased this game expecting I could navigate the menus using the mouse and keyboard and controlling the cars with WASD or the arrow keys like other driving games I own. I'm guessing since none of those work, do I have to buy a steam or XBox controller to play the game? I don't think you can run races by only pushing ESC and ENTER lol. Much thanks to any responses.

From what I know, Ctrl is the acceleration, and the Left and Right arrows are for steering. Idk about brakes

You should definitely buy a controller. Last time I played racing game with keyboard and mouse was sometime in 1996.

Lots of people play all sorts of driving games w/ keyboard and mouse; especially those of us w/ gaming laptops. NASCAR tracks are easy. F1 tracks are a little harder but still easy. Everyone is different. F1 2019 has great keyboard support, same w/ ATS and ETS.

I'm all thumbs with a controller and was also hoping for better keyboard support. Oh well, no big deal... have a good one. Actually if I got anything different, it would be a wheel.

Thanks for all the responses. I bought a cheaper generic steam controller since Heat 4's keyboard support is almost non-existent.

What key on the key board will start the program. I get a B/ESC and a A/ Start in the lower right corner, but unable to use the muse to click on them

its pretty easy, all you gotta do is change the keybinds for keyboard, I play with keyboard and use AWSD keys, Lshift for upshift and Lctrl for downshift

I have a XBox controller laying around, so that would work with this game? As well a very old steering wheel(G25) in some storage. But i guess it should work perfectly with the controller, right?

I found the enter key is the A button, the ESC key is the B button, The X key is the X button and the Y key is the Y button. The up and down arrows are the Scroll and Page up and Page down mmoves the sensor across the board.. CTRL is the gas peddel and the Alt is the break/Reverse

store pages neglects to inform customers of this basic fact. you see this is STEAM a PC games distro platform. game is a console port. they didnt think to allow kb/m naively.

sure gamers can figure it out after a while but the store page says partial controller support and wheels support, when it is missing kb/m support that is generally meaning thats the basic control method. ill plug in my wiipro controller and use it to change the settings but i expected a different start to playing the game not getting frustrated and then wasting my time looking for a workaround. turns the fun factor into the dumb factor. and i can see why people launch and refund 2 minutes later. devs really need to get up on PC players requirements. i dont have space for a wheel i dont use a sub par controller on steam. kb/m is superior is every single category. you all might but there are many like me that simply wont.
