DirectInputFF.dll is likely force feedback for a wheel or controller, try unplugging the device and retest the game. If this solves the crashing, look for an updated driver.

Managed to get this working. Originally I was using Logitech G29 wheel and Logitech's G HUB tool for device management - drivers were up to date and reinstalling did not help.

To fix the issue, first I had to install the pretty much deprecated Logitech Gaming Software to get access to all device's options. Then in Logitech Gaming Software:
1. Open settings,
2. Select G29 tab,
3. toggle/untoggle the option for allowing games to override force feedback settings couple times and leave it selected,
4. Try the game again.
