Split Screen Issue
Hello all. I picked this game up the other day after reading some good reviews and it was on sale which was a bonus. I'm an old school PC Nascar racing player as I use to play the games papyrus made back in the 90's as a kid with my Dad. I fired up the split screen today so my son and I could race each other and that's where we ran into an issue. I have a Logitech G920 and an Xbox elite controller (wireless) hooked up to the PC. Player one in settings shows the wheel and player 2 shows the gamepad. Both controllers work in the menus except when we attempt to select player 2's driver. The only buttons that work at that point are the B buttons on each controller and the Esc button on the keyboard. We can select player one's driver without issue but can't browse or select player 2's and advance to the race. Anyone run into this? Am I missing something? Sorry for the long post, any help would be appreciated and thanks for reading. -Joe

I am having the exact issue with a G27 wheel and XBox USB controller. I have request #3653 with 704Games support and their latest update was the developers think the wheel may be "too old" and causing compatibility issues. Their words - not mine.
I have the same issue when trying to select Player 2 driver but also found if you try to map steering in player 2 inputs you get a screen with the only choice being A and it doesn't work. B doesn't even show up and I have to force quit the game to get back.

well you can let them know both a g920 and g29 are having the same issue despite being logitechs most up to date wheels and hopefully that will take away one of their excuses

Already did and I will update this thread with a synopsis of their troubleshooting and any resolution when (if) it happens. Supposedly the developers are involved.

See below for the TL:DR but the short version is I was told you have to use 2 controllers, which is a crock. I kept telling them that the controller was showing up as XInput 0 if I used it to map anything but the default mappings for Player 2 were XInput 1. I could map any control to XInput 0 in Player 2 except Steering. I went into Player 1 input, cleared all mappings for Steering then mapped only my wheel to it. Then back to Player 2 input, Steering and it let me map it. Back in the game I could now pick Player 2. Of course this means you have to clear all mappings for XInput 0 in Player 1 which pretty much means remapping wheel and KB. Though in some cases they have KB controls hard coded and they appear with an *. I haven't actually played anyone but have been able to go into split screen and control the correct players with their assigned controls, i.e., Player 1 - G27 and Player 2 - XBox USB controller. Not sure how much of this I want to share with their support :-) :steammocking:

I'm sorry for all of the back and forth. I was finally able to get better details from our developers and they have confirmed that what you are experiencing is a bug. You cannot play with a controller and a wheel you must use two controllers. There is an issue in the coding that causes this. I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to get a fix for this issue.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I have restarted the game, rebooted the computer and unplugged and plugged back in the devices and still the same result. Do you want me to wipe out the mappings and remap? Frankly if I could edit a config file instead of doing it in the game it would be much easier because I would have a default to fall back on. Again, I point out that the default device showing up in the Player 2 mapping is XInput 1, while the controller I have is seen by the game as XInput 0. I can map buttons to XInput 0 on Player 2 ok until I get to steering then it does the same thing, which is it does nothing. Also, if I do that then I will have both Player 1 and Player 2 with XInput 0 mapped to them and the only way to resolve that is to delete and remap each control to a specific device.

Can you please try to just unplug everything and start from scratch trying to setup the wheel and controller in split screen? It is very challenging to diagnose what could be causing this as these items should be plug and play. Sometimes on PC there are input issues or settings with the wheel that were configured so starting again may help.

thanks for pushing this. Shame the end result is "Our bad its a bug but we can't fix it. Have a nice day!" But it is what it is.

Curious if anyone else on this thread has been able to fix their issue using the steps I posted above (or something similar). If the fix can be replicated I will update my ticket with 704.

My comment June 5 2:37 PM, try following that process. If it doesn't work or you have trouble following it let me know and I will try to help

Okay, so I was able to figure out a solution, you go (SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\NASCAR Heat 4\NASCARHeat4_Data\StreamingAssets\PC\ControllerProfiles) delete all files that do not pertain to your wheel in particular (I kept all files that were logitech since I have a G27) then you have to clear all the mappings for controller and wheel. Then you remap the basic navigational controls, esc, save, then go back to the driving controls and map them. This took me about 2 days to figure out, but its using a DS4 controller with DS4 windows and the logitech gaming software.
