NH4 compared to other racing games
I understand from various reviews that NH4 is not as realstic as the good old NR2003 or iracing. But how is it compared to other titles like Nascar Thunder 2004? Nascar from Toca Race Driver 3? Or more recently to Nascar from Project Cars 2? I expect NH4 to be closer to toca race driver 3 than pcars2 or nascar thunder, which are sims.

Is it possible to use an H shifter?

I had tried NH2 and really disliked it, the handling was absolutely awful. It seems NH4 is a huge improvement on the handling and phyiscs aspects. Is that really true?

NH4 is much better than NH2. Project Cars 2 doesnt give a good race challenge as NH4,seems unbeliveble but thats true. PC2 focus a real sim car behavior but AI in ovals are stupid. Take a look here

Thanks for your answer. I think Nascar cup cars use fully manual transmission though, with H pattern shifter.

It is actually a lot better than many people write in the reviews etc. The early Heat series were not so great but they fixed a lot in 4 IMO; the top groove works now and as other mentioned, the AI is actually pretty good.

Iracing is better in some ways, but is also expensive and depending on the class you want to run, can be very restrictive for times you can actually compete.

Yes, all 3 NASCAR series use an H pattern 4 speed; not sure why anyone would say it is unreal to the series when that is what they use.

Thanks fot the info. I got it on sale. I have to install it when I have time. I hope it is going to ve a good experience. The addition of the dirt series was also a major selling point for me. Although reviews were really negative about this dirt part of the game in NH3, it seems the physics have improved a lot in heat4, and also how the ai cars behaviour.

I was wondering that NASCAR use sequential gears. I understood that is 4 gears with H pattern. Thats new to me.

NH4 is the best NASCAR game since 2003. Is it the most realistic NASCAR game out there? Nope. Is it a perfectly polished and bug-free experience? Nope. Is it still lots of fun if you adjust your expectations slightly? Absolutely!

Also they use a H-pattern 4 speed transmission, correct.

I am thinking of buying NH4. However I would be playing it on a Microsoft Surface pro, with no controller or wheel. Is it possible to play this game as one would with NHmobile, by tilting the screen?

I installed the game and ran a few races. You're right, it's really good. It's a good surprise. I wasn't expecting that, especially since I tried the awful NH2.

I had doubts and bought it on sale, and have no regrets.

My wheel and pedals respond perfectly, my H shifter too, no issue at all (a reviewer had issues but maybe because he used a high wheel. I use a ts pc racer and tried a logitech driving force pro, everything is fine).

Only thing I would have liked is the inclusion of the sprint racing series but... They did it in a specific game 😁

It's already a good package and the dirt series are really fun.
